Just a heads up, Luceti. Weather's about to turn bad again, so go out and enjoy the sunshine today.

[There is no edge of irony to this at all.]

[Filtered to Keimi]

Hey, where are you? Need to talk to you for a sec.

[Nami passes through the plaza in the early afternoon, though she's not stopping to shop or drink today-- just on her way to house ( Read more... )

[Feel those eyes on you as you walk through the plaza, Nami? ...You probably are not surprised by this attention.]

[Not by the attention, certainly. But Nami doesn't see Albert in the plaza that often. She glances up curiously and meets his gaze for a split second, and her pace slows... and then she gives him a nod and a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes, and continues on, rounding smoothly on her feet to head for Seventh Heaven instead.

She doesn't know what to do about you Silverbergs. Ergo, right now she'd rather avoid you both.]

[He returns the nod, but of course does not smile in passing. He says something before she changes direction--something perfectly strange and perhaps disturbing with his complete lack of inflection.]

Did I misjudge you?

[His reason for being in the plaza does not remain a mystery for long; he is soon enough walking to the entrance of the tunnels and climbing down and out of sight.]

[...well, that quite successfully stops her in her tracks. Not quite what she expected.

It's been a long time for her since that first meeting.]

[This is not a wise decision.]

[But then there's a whole bunch of things that still don't fit.

Raine.

...dammit. She turns again, heading for the tunnel entrance and climbing down herself.]

[Perhaps unsurprisingly, Albert has not wandered far away from the entrance. It's almost as if he expected Nami to follow him down and simply waited for her.

He'll wait for her to gain her bearings. Perhaps calm down.]

[Calm is not entirely required, though she's definitely on edge as she comes down the ladder. She quashes any jitters when she gets to the bottom, turning to face him with a flat look.]

That depends on how you judged me in the first place.

[He meets Nami's look with his normal stoic expression.] You are an intelligent young woman. You were before your disappearance as well. One who pays attention to detail and broad expanses.

...

[Yeah, okay.]

You have a higher opinion of me than your brother does. [So wry. But she won't volunteer anything else.]

He lacks tact. [And that's all he'll say there.]

In any case. I had thought you would be more subtle in your dealing with Yuber. You certainly had the right idea before you allowed him under your skin.

[Silence. Because she's schooling her temper. That first sentence is telling-- and because Albert gave her useful information the first time, because she's still not sure on his motivation in any of this, she's going to respond to that civilly. So her voice is very quiet.]

By 'under my skin', do you mean the point where he murdered Vash? Because that's when he managed it. Or do you mean every time I've been forced to defend myself?

The only time I've wilfully gone after Yuber is when I thought I was a marine. [Thank you, Malnosso.] I've tried to avoid him beyond that. It hasn't stopped him trying to kill me three times since.

I said it to Caesar, and I'll say it to you. Minding my own business is a pointless exercise. It certainly won't stop him.

It would have, before. But you have proven to be ... interesting enough to keep his attention. Unfortunately for you. [He could list missteps and mistakes made along the way, but has a feeling Nami has rethought every decision that has led to this.]

I can only advise that you do not drag more like yourself into this situation -- those who in actuality cannot hope to fight him. [He does not in any way refute what Nami is saying.]

[It's on the tip of her tongue to actually agree with that first part. And then the second...]

You mean like Sayo?

[action] chikaidestroyer March 23 2011, 22:33:56 UTC
[He doesn't know Sayo. Not beyond what he has observed over the journals.]

...Yes. There are some foolhardy types here who choose to fight every battle they encounter, even when they do not know what they are facing. That behavior invites trouble.

[He doesn't know what happened. In which case she won't correct him; may as well leave Sayo as uninvolved as possible.

...]

I like to know everything I can before I make my choices in a fight.
