Some interesting developments in my quest to find a shoe that fits. I had the opportunity to try a narrow women's shoe. It turns out the width was about right for me. No, I'm not into crossdressing. This is a sizing issue.

Jokes aside, I'm glad you found something that may work, and hope that it will indeed do so.

As for vacations, have you considered Las Vegas? I think it's fairly traditional to not take a car there, so I'd expect the city to be designed to accomodate that. I hear they even have a monorail! (It flies as softly as a cloud!)

A guy I knew in Oregon (near Portland) also told me that the state's generally very bike-friendly, so perhaps you can find a nice place to visit there that might even have a rental bike system. These might also exist in other cities, BTW - worth checking!

And then there's Hawaii, which I'm sure is well-adapted to being explored sans cars.

Interesting situation on the shoe size - hope you can find something appropriate. It's weird that we live in the 21st century and companies/countries still can't standardize on shoe sizes, let alone finding ways to adjust width in an appropriate way.
