I know the CSR has happened, we know it will get worse before getting a little better in time for the next General Election (I can't imagine things won't be made slightly better then, showing us the pain was worth it

The BS (how aptly named) doesn't take account of the fact that many people are already doing difficult work for free or a pittance, and they're the ones who are going to be stretched even more.
You can't enforce a sense of community spirit - that's not how it's done.
Who can disagree with the rhetoric of the Big Society - I can. I don't want essential services for people to be dependent on voluntary groups with varying social/religious agendas, instead of the rigorously audited, officially 'neutral' council provided services. (And I say that while dealing with some spectacularly awful council services at the moment - I am at least reasonably certain their craptitude isn't because I'm the wrong gender / sexuality / race / religion)

I know the stretched feeling...
Community is formed where people find common unity...I think friendliness is always a good place to start!
