I'm making it. It's quite a rush to be involved in this weekends activities.
I landed Friday and immediately went to the walk-in clinic here to get checked out for strep, etc. Turns out that I likely just have the virus that
hypatia42 has/had. However, both ears were a bit red and bordering on infection. Given my recent environment and my upcoming schedule, the doctor wrote me a scrip for antibiotics and suggested that I go ahead and start the 10 days. After some lunch, I slept for about 3 1/2 hours before heading to the office.
I'm feeling remarkably better though I still can't really talk all that well. Which is kinda funny because my job this weekend is working in the communications hub. I've been fortunate enough to not have had to stay the entire 12 hours each night.
The first night was pretty laid back. It worked out well because it gave me time to feel my way through what was going on and what my job was. No major issues that night. At 5:15, it was quite enough that I left. I was back at the hotel by about 5:30. In bed by about 5:45 and asleep by 5:46.
Slept until about 10:00 when I was awakened by the dog that was barking outside of my window. Apparently, this was the world's way of telling me it was time to get up and eat. Taxes were completed. Another nap. Then to get some Fire Bowl for dinner and a salad from Whole Foods for the middle of the night.
Into the office where the energy was quite a bit more elevated. We worked through a couple unexpected issues and actually ended up calling it a night around 2:00 because we were far enough ahead of schedule. Jammed to some Guitar Hero when I got back 'cause I couldn't sleep. Finally knocked out around 3:30 and slept 'til 10:00 today. Up and about. I'm headed to get a haircut, back here to shower and then likely into the office for 6-8 hours today. The Go/No Go discussion/decision occurs today between 5-6 Mountain time. I'm sure the buzz in the office will be pretty significant by then.
One last note...it's much tougher to alter a sleep schedule when you're not feeling well.
