Under the Weathers
Multiple members of case de mikejj have been laid low by illness. First Ben had conjunctivitis and an ear infection, and now is stuck with a lingering cough. I seem to have gotten the cold and cough portion of this, replete with sinus pressure and a hacking cough. This weekend was less eventful, but still fun. On Friday, Suzanne went out with some friends from work, and my brother and sister in law watched the kids until I got home from work. Snow Part MCMXVII
Once again, we are supposed to get snow here. Anywhere from 2-4 inches, as per the forecast. Personally, I think we will get a lot less. It hasn't even started yet, but it isn't all that cold outside. My suspicion is that it won't really start sticking to the ground for a while, and by tomorrow morning we won't have all that much accumulation ( Read more... ) -
I'm no Superman
This past weekend was a lot of fun. The weather was just about pitch-perfect for skiing, cold but not overly so, with no rain or temperature spikes to mess things up. Today was kind of a low key day. I reviewed some of the articles I picked to present at our journal club in a few weeks, including a paper comparing the degree of withdrawal in infants born to moms treated with one of two drugs for opioid withdrawal. I started off the day digging our cars out of the driveway after the latest winter offering. It wasn't so bad- the snow didn't melt when it hit the ground, so it was relatively easy to shovel. The worst is when the first layer of snow melts, then freezes overnight. You wind up with powder on top of a sheet of ice, which is mush harder to shovel ( Read more... ) -

Today is my birthday. We spent the weekend in Delaware for our annual Punkin Chunkin pilgrimage with our friends. It was a good time, as usual, but I suppose it's hard not to enjoy yourself when your only task of the day is to sit in a cornfield, eat, and drink beer.
