I think perhaps souls wrecked and ruined can be pretty spiteful too. No, on second thought, I take that back. Not the spiteful part, but the wrecked and ruined part.
Because the souls are not wrecked and ruined. Battered and bruised for a time, perhaps. But I think a lot of that is self-flagellation over the fact that said souls let it happen. They were blinded, they let themselves be deceived, they may have even helped to perpetuate the illusion they were part of.
But in the end, there is great consolation. Those souls saw it, before it was too late and they became something they were never destined to be. They can atone for their mis-steps, and gain a wisdom from what happened to them.
