Mike Week 2008

It's Mike Week. My wedding anniversary (8 years) was on Tuesday, my birthday (42) is Saturday, and Father's Day is Sunday. I'm honored 3 different ways in one week, which happens every year. I like Mike Week a lot because I like me. But this year I'm using this week to reflect upon one thing: how do I make my life NOT about me?

I know how to make it not about you. Make it all about me. Read my blog. Send me money. Send my wife flowers, but make the card say it's from me. I really hope that helps. I'm willing to make those sacrifices if it helps to make it feel like it is less about you that way.

I do what I can. Seriously though. I understand exactly what you are getting at with this. There is a part of me that wants to make things less and less about me in my own existence. There is that other part of me that doesn't though. This equals I really suck at it. I'm gonna keep trying though.

That picture was taken by my 6 year old son, Josiah, on the day of his daughter Noelle's birth last November. I had been up all night and had been in the delivery room all morning. I was tired, unshaven and a bit disoriented as I tried unsuccessfully to nab the camera from him before he snapped a picture. So the expression was like,"Gimme that camera - stop dodging me - don't.." when he snapped it. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one was worth at least one post, I guess.

I have to ask a question now...How does Josiah have a daughter? hehe Wait!...I know the answer! Time Travel!...DOH!!! nope, that's not it. I give up. ;-)
