Some thoughts on Christmas

So for sometime I have debated with myself if I should post this note, and I finally decided I should. For the past few years I have been practicing a personal policy of not giving gifts to people for Christmas, because if I did it would just be fulfilling some sort of empty cultural obligation which kinda makes me sick. I had been thinking of similar things on the days leading up to my return trip to KY. Mostly I thought of the fact that when people talk about the "reason for the season" (I hate that phrase), they either think family and friends or Jesus' birth. Frankly, the family and friends thing is bullshit. Yeah, it's good and all, but the day isn't called Familyfriendmas. I was actually more concerned with the people who focus on Jesus' birth, however, because if Jesus hadn't died and rose again, then His birth wouldn't have much meaning. That's my take, anyway.

I'm still giving gifts on Christmas, but only because I think it's fun. It's the only time I know of that EVERYONE gets a present.
