She left a response on the fb thread going "WTF, are you joking? "  So I sent her a private message:

"If you live in such a tiny bubble of privilege that you do not understand how offensive that use of language is then I am seriously disappointed in you. I love you very much, but the use of gay and fag this way is deeply and inherently offensive.

It is our job to teach what her parents and school haven't, and not all lessons will be welcome.
