A year later...

I finally get a job. I'll be doing warehouse work at Alterra Coffee. Met a few people today and they seem nice. It's 2nd shift, and they pay isn't all that and a bag of chips, but it's a start; and FREE coffee isn't a bad thing. But for some reason, I'm not happy. I should be happy I'll be earning again, but I'm not. I'll probably feel better ( Read more... )

Congratulations Mike! I hope Alterra is satisfying while you build a platform for a new career. Just about any job is decent as long as the people you work with are cool. And the people I've met from Alterra are definitely cool.

I think the computer industry is going to pick up by the summer. And even more once we get this jackass out of office. Under Bush's leadership, we've had a net loss of more than 2 million jobs. And at least a million more people have had to take lower paying jobs. I think this has personally affected YOU, and while you may have questioned your skills and/or motivation, I wouldn't be too hard on yourself because it IS hard to find a job right now.

I think maybe you also drink out of sheer boredom. So... maybe just keep finding alternate stuff to do.

Anyhow, not trying to give unneeded advice. You seem to know what you're doing.

I doubt Kari would be upset if you left Alterra for something better.

Congrats on being back in the workforce, hope to join you there myself soon!
