David gave me the Greta Garbo boxed set of DVDs (WOW!), and a great Film Noir boxed set as well, so I have a LOT of films to watch this winter! Food was great, ( Read more... )

Yes, that's a tree skirt, and a hellified one! David found it at Fortunoff's, I believe, at their "day after Christmas" sale. It's got ruched velvet on it, and brocade, and heavy piping, it's gorgeous.

Don't be surprised, but I DID try it on and pirouette around! It's very "Russian" looking. Maybe I will take a pic of the skirt, after the tree comes down...

Thanks, Nik, I do love the tree, tho I think we have a bit too many ornaments! Did you notice the "Nightmare Before Christmas" buildings underneath the tree? Yeah, I got a good haul, watched the Garbo documentary the other night, and plan on watching "Anna Karenina" Friday night, and weeping buckets of tears. How was your holiday? Any nice gifts? I read that you imbibed a bit. So did I, SURPRISE!

"Blackbeard's Ghost"? God, haven't seen that in a million years. Disney, no? Suzanne Pleshette is in that too, isn't she? Fun. Do you have "Blackbeard the Pirate", with Robert Newton? Fun! Gorgeous color, the stunningly gorgeous Linda Darnell is in it too, Irene Ryan (she was "Granny" on the "Beverly Hillbilles"), and Keith Andes, who had some physique (meow!)

David got those from "Hawthorne Village". Trouble is, they take it upon themselves to keep sending you stuff, til you tell them "STOP"!

Wow, so that's what took you over 6 hours to decorate. It does look amazing. Such a full tree, both in branches and in decs. Merry Christmas. How long will it take you to box it all back up again *shudder*?

Leave it to you to speak the truth! I'm trying not to think about it. A few hours, but not as long as putting the stuff ON the tree. How are ou feeling? I watched "Anna Karenina" last night with Greta Garbo, and had a good cry.

Oh I love that story, read the book but never seen the film.

I'm feeling much better after my day alone yesterday. Hopefully it's a turning point and not just a sign that Lydia is starting to wear me out.

You just made me laugh! Yes, little kids can wear you out. They should turn them loose on suspected killers, they'd get a confession out of them in no time. I want to read "Anna Karenina", it's LONG, and I heard the names can drive you mad, but the story is right up my alley (and it appeals to my gloomy Russian genes). The Garbo film creaks a bit, but she's fascinating to watch. I'd love to see the Vivien Leigh version.
