Me, a Softie?

David and I attended the Renaissance Faire again this past Sunday, and wore our "big" outfits, it was nice and cool outside. We received a lof of compliments, the company from which I purchased my vegan-friendly boots is going to love me, I just sent them a lot of customers! The best compliment of all was paid by a man who asked if he could ( Read more... )

You both look great. I love the use of red in the outfits.

Thank you. I'm obsessed with red. Those sashes are stonewashed silk scarves that I dyed with Procion dye, and then had the fringe (which matched perfectly, a happy coincidence) sewed on later. The scarf on my head was also a dye job, coral pink (one of my favorite colours). I'm telling you, those Procion dyes are amazing. The colours are brilliant.

Have you tried them? I also purchased a burnout velvet scarf from the company from which I purchase the dye and dyed it black for my friend Carol. It took the dye beautifully.

How are Dorian and the little ones? And how are you feeling?

Thank you! That little girl was so sweet. Little kids are so special. Animals too. The sweetest, most innocent things.

Oh my goth! You both look great. Agree with Carmilla red is great. Tend to wear bright to work, it suits my colouring I'm told. Must track down those dyes in UK, they come in such great colours. Use to do alot of tye dying. Ex had loads of bike show t-shirts (bet you didn't realise I was a bike chick, well sat or slept on back looking pretty!) which were white was really please when I tie dyed them. Had one unfortunate top that I did circles on & just happened to circle boobs! LOL

..you mean like "Bulls-eye" boobs? Funny! Yeah, I'm sure you can find the Procion dyes in the UK. I dye the stuff in my stainless steel sink , add dissolved salt, the dye, and then later, the soda ash, which "sets" the colours. I still wash the things separately a few times after dyeing, or a good wash in the machine should take all the excess out. The 2 companies in the US that have great colours are Dharma Trading (I also bought the silk scarves from them), and Pro-Chem. Check out the colours. I just ordering a deep yellow dye, kinda like the colour of curry powder.

Those are great pictures, Michael. Thanks for the link from the Discussion Board! I see it is you who are the pirate expert, and I bow to that expertise (takes a bow). I added you as a friend to my goofie half-Russian journal; hope that's ok.

Vegan Friendly Pirate Boots mikhailv December 4 2006, 20:08:03 UTC
There's an online company called "Fifth Floor Productions". They have the "Pleaser" line of shoes and boots, and another brand that the name has just escaped me. The boots are sized in women's sizes, I wear a man's size 11, so I ordered a size 13 in women's. I thanked the owner, and suggested that he list the non-leather boots as "vegan friendly", as he would probably get more buyers, and he did! They have leather and non-leather boots, and they are CHEAP!
