Took a class on project management. Finally found out what it was per PMI and decided that it didn't sound like that path for me. PMI is pushing for it to a real career path and the image of being a project manager (e.g. if a project doesn't meet certain standards--i.e. the project is doomed--, they would prefer that you abandon it then to fail and ruin the image of project management).

good point.

another thing i observed is that PMI has a lot of restrictions and parameters on how to manage projects (i.e. you must have project charters, etc). i think they were originally intended to help you stay on track and complete the project. but unfortunately, there are PMs who will not know what do w/o these guidelines. makes you wonder where the creativity and independent thinking could be.

we need to go back to school. right?
