Wow! Just wow--

Everything you have Sam thinking comes out exactly right! The ambivalence, the preference to be numb--this would be perfect if it plays out like this.

Thank you! We really hope something like this will be used for the show 'cause it makes a lot of sense (at least to us ;) ) and it would explain so much... AND it would mean there was a chance that we get at least a Sam-like Sam back somehow...

I would totally approve of the show taking this route. I've only just recognized Sam as Sam in 6x04 (Perpetual look of confusion, how we've missed you), and your story makes perfect sense to me.

You know, one of the many things I like about this possibility is the fact that, after they find his soul again, he could go back to being (at least partly) the Sam we all fell in love with. I think he'll still have changed (and he really should, hell can't have been a cake-walk for him) but in the very essence he could still be Sam.

Oh, and YES, I've missed that look so much, too! That's the Sam I want back!
