I am torn...

On the one hand, the writing in this is *brilliant*! Absolutely stunning. I feel for John, for his pain and confusion, and his...need? longing? fear? for his sons. Truly excellent work. (I especially loved the descriptions of Hell, and of the escape, because, yes. I do think that getting to the gate was... accidental? for John. Like he was in the middle of the big demons (Alistair and the like) and just sort of got pulled along in their wake when they bolted for the door.)

One the other hand...this is one of three defining moments for John's character for me... and all three make me like him less. This scene, every time I watch it, I growl. So I have a hard time feeling much for John. (Its not the writing, its my hatred of the scene.) I do think it's IC and that you captured John well, with his surprise, his automatic rescue of Dean (and yes, he would have done the same for Sam, I know ;).

And again, holy fuck. This is amazing. It took me a moment to realize you were describing John riding a wave of souls out of hell!

The description of Azazel and his meat suit? Positively nauseating. Brilliantly described.

I am feeling pretty bad for Sammy right now...
