I admire your courage to just put it all out there.
Two years ago I would have thought the same thoughts and made the same assertations, but I don't think that I can now. I believe that there are things in the bible that are not necessarily to be taken so dead literally.
I don't go to church because of the threat of fire and brimstone. I suggest you read past Genesis maybe even into the new testament, the bible speaks of great love and compassion that is why I read it and why I go to church on Sunday, and why I teach a catechism class on Wednesday.
My one question is this, you seek contact or real proof of the existence of God or and higher being for that matter, but brush away what may be the answer as a chemical imbalance. Should God show himself to you or perform a miracle for you would you even realize it or recognize it for what it was?
I could go on more but I'd rather not clog your comment page with my religous babble, I tend to go off on tagents...
Thanks for replying...and if I offended you, I didn't mean to and am not trying to. I might have come off as such. I posted above that I do respect people's beliefs and I don't criticize anyone for it. I am glad that you have found love and compassion in God and I wish I could too, but some stupid part of my brain won't listen

I was saying... my bros go too because of the love and compassion, not the threat of an eternal damnation. I'm saying that many children have been drilled into their heads at an early age of this threat of Hell and it's a primal fear that has become kind of a reason they START to go. It's harder to convert someone who's older than who is younger, most of the time.
