I have no idea why they had to add in the Ice-9/Alice stuff along with that dumb open-ended "true ending"..it's just random and kind of boring.
Haven't played ever17 so can't comment on that though--did I just get spoiled? gasp!

Yeah, I kind of majorly spoiled it, but not enough to ruin your enjoyment of it, I would think. It moves reallllyyyy slowly, unfortunately, but it's worth it for the true ending. You will definitely see similarities between it and 999 though.

Hmm... It's been a few months since I've played 999 so I can't really help answer those things very well. Did you read the official site's Q&A? Maybe you'll find answers there?

I haven't played Ever17 either.. ;;

Yeah, I read through it all. But most of these were more "Was that really necessary?" than actual questions about the game, if that makes sense =x And go play Ever17. Best visual novel ever. Though I kind of majorly spoiled it that last paragraph, but not enough so to ruin the game. I think it's still worth playing...er, reading. It's a normal visual novel so it has no puzzles, just choices every once in awhile. It moves REALLY slowly but you will shit bricks during Coco's path...probably.

I vaguely remember I had an answer to the whole ALLICE thing, but I can't remember for the life of me now ;; Definitely not for the true ending though, that just had me dot-dot-dotting all over the place.

It was my first time playing a visual novel game and I honestly rather enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Then again, I'm more of a "enjoy the ride" sort of player unless flaws just... jump right out at me. And also I've never played Ever17 which dulled the experience for you.

If I could find a way to play it I would. Apparently it's really rare to find. Hmm...

You can download it <.< http://erogedownload.com/downloads/ever-17-the-out-of-infinity/

You'll probably like 999 better because you played it first and its pacing is a million times better, but Ever17 is pretty epic.

Personally, I saw it as June never died to begin with in the incinerator, and that's how she was able to be present in the future and only disappears AFTER that if Junpei doesn't make it to the incinerator, which thus changes the past and makes it so she died then and creates a completely different future. But up until Junpei doesn't make it to the incinerator, the world behaves as if he had. That is, the point in time where Akane survived was already set in stone, but then gets moved to a different point and reality if Junpei doesn't make it to the incinerator. Does that make sense? Probably not, but neither does most of the game's logic. Also, why can't Zero be just June? Yes, she has the help of a larger organization (including Santa), but the way I understood it, Zero is one single person - June. You're right about Ice-9 though. It just seemed a little unnecessary since they already had the other stories with the rats and pictures, so why throw one in that seemed like it would be more than just a story and then have it go nowhere ( ... )

According to the FAQ, I think all those stupid things had to happen because Akane saw them in her future. She didn't decide to make it, she merely had to recreate her vision, no matter how jerkish a future it might be.

At least, that's the explanation he gave. Which really isn't an explanation as much as it is, "BECAUSE I SAY SO!!!"

I still have no idea what's up with Ice-9, but it looks like Allice is going to be in the sequel. At least, the dark-skinned chick looks sort of like her.

Yeah, I think that's the best answer we'll get. Which isn't a great answer but at least it's AN answer xD

Yeah, I noticed the Alice/ALL-ICE lookalike too, so hopefully we'll get some answers. That's what I'm hoping, anyway. Pink-haired girl could be an older Clover, too, and I think the girl with white hair MIGHT be related to Akane and Aoi. She sure looks like Aoi, anyway. Sigma also kinda looks like an older Junpei.
