The more I read and see, the more I wish I could find the same sort of diversity in my entertainment as exists in my real life. That has taken some digging and I've had many disappointments, particularly with TV ( Read more... )

I'm sure you've run into Octavia Butler by now? If not, check out her short story, Bloodchild. A wonderful, metaphorical bit of SF.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've had the pleasure of reading some of Ms. Butler's wonderful work, including 3 of her novels. Dark Matters includes one of her short stories and one of her essays, but not the one you mention. I'll have to seek out "Bloodchild" on my next trip to the library or bookstore.

Due to various circumstances, I never finished The New Moon's Arms, but I enjoyed many of the stories in Dark Matters. Happy reading!
