Stupidity is Eternal

She has written a couple of my favorite stories from years ago, so I don't want to put her on my 'do not read' list. However, what she said offended me. After all that's been going around LJ, I don't have the energy to do more than point it out and wish some people would think a lot more before they speak.

I'd stopped following her lj a long while ago because I didn't particularly dig her.

This? Has taken pleasure out of reading those books for me.

I didn't even know she had a journal until today. Guess that saves me the trouble of taking down bookmarks or unfriending.

And my reading list has been shrinking quite a bit these past 2 weeks. You'd think I'd stop being surprised when people show their true colors.

Can you imagine him as . . . British prime minister?

The arrogance of that sentence and the racism in the next shock me. *shudders* I had to look up that person, though, I've never even seen any of her books. And I certainly won't read them now.

Me too! I tried to reread a couple of times, hoping I'd missed something where she indicated that she was quoting someone else and these weren't her own words.

Love the icon, by the way. It's highly appropriate!

Oddly, I can't imagine Obama as British prime minister. That would be because he's not British.

I'm now engaged in the process of trying to imagine Gordon Brown as American president, and I think my head might fall off.

Not touching that last sentence of hers with a barge pole. O_o

You're better off. You might catch something skanky if you did.

My head pretty much did fall off when she went on to add: I’m now perfectly willing to go with our first heavily tanned half-Caucasian president,

It's just...ugh...how can anyone say such things and not realize how insulting and racist it is?

Are you serious?

What. The. Fuck.

Believe me, I wish I wasn't serious. I don't expect everyone to think exactly the way I think, but this is just too much. And now I wonder: if this is what she's say in public, what isn't she saying?

Yup. That was my initial reaction. Only less coherent.

I can deal with questions about his qualifications or experience or just differences of political opinion, but this? This leaves me flabbergasted and upset.
