Yikes! What a disaster!! Do you have a Power of Attorny that states you can add/change leasing documents in his place? If so then you should be able to add him while he's away. There's no reason why they wouldn't let you do that. I was able to when my husband was deployed a few years ago.

yes, i have power of attorney. and they know that. they're just being a-holes because they thought i was trying to get out of my lease. which, eventually i will be but there's no reason why they shouldn't add him on to my lease.

Whenever other spouses are having issues I have no problems reading through everything.
I hope you get everything figured out. Wish I had more advice for you, but they're the ones who are wrong in this case. Good luck!! Let us know if it gets resolved.

thanks! i'm expecting that call from the regional manager tomorrow. i'm hoping she brings the same news as her boss, the district manager, because walking into that office with a "look what your boss told me" result will totally make my day!

One thing you should always check on is what they call a "Military Clause" in the lease, allowing you to break it or change it without penalty in the event of a deployment.

Landlords, typically, are supposed to allow you to add spouses to the lease, as long as they pass the background check. Office people/supervisors just like power trips.

Give em the best stink-eye ever, and make your hubby's Drill Sergeants proud. :P
