same here! and we didn't have a traditional wedding either. in fact, we had a plate of jello shots as our wedding cake and instead of champagne, we toasted with Jameson.
We're going to be having a traditional military wedding - he'll wear his uniform, saber arch, etc. But our wedding itself is ultra formal and traditional so incorporating the military theme just came naturally for us.
I totally agree. The Army is our life, lifestyle, etc. Ryan has made this very clear and I couldn't agree more ^_^ Plus all the groomsmen in our someday wedding will be in the Army, all in their Dress Blues; OMG it is going to look gorgeous! haha
Oh by all means feel free too! I was refusing to see Joe in his dress blues until our wedding day but then they changed the uniform requirement and he had to wear his blues to a military ball hehe. There's just such a sense when I see him standing tall in his blues. Although I have to admit I'm a little scared of the saber arch hitting my backside with the saber! Oh course there has to be detailing right where he's supposed to hit me. Okay so maybe more of a light tap but I'm still scared of my dress ripping! Oh and I have to show you a copy of our wedding invitations once I get them - they're army themed of course!
My husband wore his, and my dad who is USAF retired wore his. We didn't have a traditional military wedding in the sense that we didn't have like a band or the sabres or anything, but my husband enlisted so that he could do something to start a better life for us so he wanted nothing more than to wear his Class A's. And of course my dad pitched a fit to wear his blues because he could still fit into them... LOL
I really didn't care either way. Our wedding wasn't really very formal, it was pretty casual. I guess the only real formality it had was that I wore the biggest white dress I could find/afford! :) We got married on the river, outside on a dock, opted out all the religious stuff from the vows (he's an Atheist and I'm Agnostic, and he was raised in a Catholic family and I was raised in a Baptist family), and once all the vows were done and all the gushy stuff was out of the way, it was party time! :)
Gawsh, now I wanna have another wedding... our first one was so much fun... :>
Even though it was a mid-week courtroom ceremony, I still wore a casual white dress, and my husband wore his dress blues! Wow -- did he look handsome. I had to stop myself from drooling during our vows!
