"Slave to a springtime passion for the earth" - Frost

Apr 13, 2008 20:44

I was right, this spring has turned out to be the best spring I've had in recent memory, perhaps ever, despite falling ill for the first time in a long time. (Because of it? No matter.) In any case, my mood has very much improved in the last couple of days. It's amazing how quickly one's mood can turn, when something fantastic happens ( Read more... )

Anyway. Mr. Diego told me he'd be out in a week.

...What do you think will happen when he returns to the prison?

...I'm not sure. It depends on how his time away has changed Armando's plan about the way he interacts with the other prisoners. He's clearly a strong individual, but I don't think he would survive a punishment like that again.

There's not much I can do to keep something like this from happening again, so we'll have to just trust that he's got a handle on it.

Can't you tell the guards to keep an eye on him? What little I've seen of their security practices have been abysmal!

I've, of course, thought of that, and had some minor contact with the warden and some of the guards already. However, as you said, their security practices are abysmal and even my clout can't change that alone.

He's effectively on his own, but hopefully his experiences have given him a new angle on matters. Wright spoke to him, at least. He's a capable person, and hopefully will make the right decisions, now that he's seen the alternative.

That's... that's not very reassuring.

But it's true; he's survived a lot of things... And if THIS didn't kill him, NOTHING can! ...Well, um, asides from the obvious...

Maybe I should work in the prison to keep things in check! I wonder what their pay is like?

I guess we'll have to see about that. I think I trust him to have a handle on the situation.

Don't you work from home with your wife?

And I'LL trust both you and Mr. Diego on that.

Our business has been slow. I've been too preoccupied with recent events to be able to properly get, um, certain things done! We experience downtime once in a while...

Security is one of my fortés, sir. If only the prison would consult me on how to improve their practices and keep things well-guarded I could make a lot of money from that, I'll bet.

Well, I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with hearing a solicitation, at least. They have had once-overs from a couple of private consultation firms, though obviously it hasn't improved much. I can't say I don't enjoy being an employee of the government.

[[Holy crap he forgot you're a crook for a minute.]]

Um... Can you please do me a favour and put in a good word for me? I could use the extra funds to pay for Dessie's new armoir.

...I'll give them my honest opinion of you. But your record is clean and you have experience, so undoubtedly you won't have any problems. If nothing else, I do trust you to have Armando's best interest at heart.
