I still recall the taste of your tears

After our little four hour spurt of distraction, it was time to get down to business. Not that either of us were complainin' about the distraction, but I knew Wes wasn't gonna leave me alone til I checked out this Guardian guy. Also knew that Angel wouldn't be able to rest until he did something about this. There was no one left to protect but he ( Read more... )

We followed the creature throughout the city, not sure of where it was going. Just lazily walking, making sure that it didn't see us and attack. That was the last thing we needed right now because the night before? Didn't want to remember it at all. We headed into a development, rich neighborhood and I wondered if there was anyone that actually lived in this place anymore. Well, someone had to, or something because this is where it led us. Toward the back there was a fenced in mansion and the creature made it's way inside and Faith and I hung back, looking on as it did so ( ... )

"Blue prints? Library?" I asked with a raised eyebrow as he pulled me back up to my feet. Was he crazy? That sounded like a big fat waste of time to me and I was dyin' to get to Mexico, ya know? Besides, how were blueprints gonna cut it when we had no idea what he was hiding or where he was hiding it? Naw, we were just gonna have to improvise this one and hope that we didn't get seriously dead in the process. We were both pretty crafty, we could probably figure it out ( ... )

Okay so my plan wasn't the best plan, but it seemed like she just wanted to break in. Which was fine with me. I looked over as she noticed the basement and agreed with her, start at the bottom, work your way up. That's how it always works right? She looked hot when she was getting bossy, but I didn't want to tell her that to egg her on, besides, it wasn't my place. I didn't think anyway. We were pretty confusing right now and I think it's something that we both just didn't want to talk about. Besides, we weren't a couple ... or were we? Wasn't sure, but I didn't want to push it ( ... )

Walking down the dark steps, I heard Angel shut the basement doors behind me as I stopped when my boots hit cement. We were in a giant wine cellar. Almost reminded me of the one in that old church where Caleb had smushed Xander's eye all the way in. Xander didn't need eyes no more, so I guessed it didn't matter. And this place was way nicer than that church. It was huge, and ornate and my eyes widened as I looked around the dimly lit basement. There was a set of wooden stairs all the way in the corner ( ... )

As soon as I hit the ground, we both took off running out of the yard and back toward the school. We slowed down to a walk though and Faith muttered a curse under her breath. I was still wondering about her, first of all who she was talking to and second, if she was sick now. I didn't want that, I know she didn't ... I remember when Wes and Fred and Gunn, all of them got sick, I could smell it all around. I know what it is and I'll be able to tell if anything was ... taking over ( ... )

"I'm fine." I answered immediately, tilting my face up and frowning when I saw him give me the once over. I knew what he was worried about, and I felt wicked guilty about it but I'd been worried about it too. I didn't wanna get sick, not like the rest of 'em. But I'd survived this long without it, so maybe I had some kind've immunity to it. Must be it. "Look, you don't have to worry about me gettin' sick." I finally said to him reassuringly. "Everyone else is dead, don't you think I'd at least be sick by now if I was gonna get it at all ( ... )

I was still worried about her even though she said it was okay. Yeah, she could have already gotten sick, but she hadn't. But what if she was now? I lost all my friends, my son ... didn't want to lose her now. If I had to go back and take care of that Slayer myself, I'd do it, just so it wasn't Faith. Wait ... if he's protecting the Slayer, I would assume it was the last one ... Faith is still around ... no, still, I'm confused.

Sighing, I followed her up to the school and nodded my head when she said we had to research. Yeah, I knew that, I was getting hungry myself too. But, I could hold it off for a little bit longer.

"I'll be able to know early ... if you have it, just in case," I said quietly with a shrug. Even though that would be something that I didnt' want to find out, at least I'd know when and if ... from the very beginning.

Saw my car as we walked up around the parking lot and I got in after she did. Didn't really have anything else to say, so I started it up and headed back to the apartment.
