I have been thinking on those lines form the day i started working but i don't think it has the same conclusion for everybody.
U missed out SALARY in the list above which combined with all the other choices holds an equal weightage. If any one of these factors goes below the tolerence limit. it sets one thinking about other options...

I know a few people working with me who've been working in the design field in the same company for the past 20 - 25 yrs n they seem to be enjoying their worklife inspite of a few compromises here n there. Gotta find out in the next few months, if its only lack of options that keeps them from shifting...

someone reminded me of something i had told them long ago -
if you wake up and think "i have to go to work", then it is time you quit

like shashwat said... money plays a very crucial role when it comes to quitting.. of course there are personal preferences about which brand one wants to be associated with and stuff..

the brook's song has always been one of my favorites... so simply written yet carries so much weight...

anyways all that apart... if you are happy with what you have then you are good to stay if you arent.. for what ever reason it maybe .. then its time to move and venture out to explore different avenues..

I don't say money is not important.... but not in my list of priorities... no point in earning a little more and having an employer that extracts 16 hrs of work from you daily..... :-)

Should have enough money to cater to my family's needs... over and above that.... don't know.

I too am reminded of a song... sid_sree February 1 2006, 13:13:07 UTC
Har koi chahta hai, ek muthi aasmaan,
har koi dhoondtha hai, ek muthi aasmaan...

so what part of the "aasmaan" are you looking for, determines why and what you do...I think...
