There’s this boy Jinki often sees in the park. The boy has dark brown hair and shiny black eyes. And Jinki has noticed that the boy’s smile is the most beautiful things he’s ever seen. Jinki doesn’t know the boy’s name or age, or where he lives. Jinki only knows that the boy will be there in the park every Wednesday to Friday starting from 4 p.m. and will leave at 6. And so Jinki goes to the park with his dog at 4 to watch the boy from distance.
Until one day Jinki’s dog runs into the beautiful boy. No, Jinki didn’t tell her to, she was a dog anyway.
“Oh, I’m sorry!” Jinki exclaims, acting like the boy is a new thing to him.
“It’s okay,” It’s the first time for Jinki to hear the boy’s voice, and Jinki falls immadiately for the voice, “it’s not like your dog has peed on me or something.”
The boy grins. Jinki blushes.
“Kim Kibum.” The boy offers his hand.
“Lee Jinki.” And Jinki accepts it.
--
Their friendship surprisingly goes well. Jinki finds out that Kibum is the only child from a rich family, single, gay, live alone, and currently not looking for a boyfriend. And Jinki doesn’t know why, but his heart feels like crushed when he heard that.
“What about you?” Kibum asks.
“I’m bisexual, if that’s what you want you know. And no, I don’t have a girlfriend nor boyfriend.”
“That’s great.”
Kibum’s smile is so breathtaking.
--
One month of their friendship, Jinki takes Kibum to karaoke. Jinki loves Kibum’s voice, that’s why. And Jinki pretends not to be surprised when Kibum sings with such a beautiful voice. Kibum finishes the song and Jinki doesn’t realize.
“Hyung, it’s your turn.”
Jinki takes the microphone and begins to sing a love song. The song tells about one who secretly loves another too much that it hurts, just like how Jinki feels towards Kibum. He just doesn’t want to admit it yet.
“You have someone you like, don’t you?” Kibum asks out of the blue as the walk home together (they find out that their houses are only two blocks away from each other).
“Huh?” Jinki blinks confusedly.
Kibum bites his lower lip nervously. “No- nevermind.”
Jinki is curious, but he doesn’t ask more. He only nods slightly and the rest of their walk home is spent by silence.
--
They don’t meet for the next two weeks. Jinki has his reason of course, the weeks are full of exams that he needs to study more so he can maintain his position on the top of the class. He forgets about Kibum as books eat him up, he’s way too drowned with studying.
One day where his exams are over and no more books on his bed, Jinki takes a walk to the park with his dog like he used to do. The boy named Kibum still hasn’t came into his mind. Until his dog runs into someone, someone feels familiar.
“Hyung?” The boy’s eyes are wide as he sees Jinki. And then it hits Jinki’s mind. Kim Kibum.
“Kibum? I-it’s been so long since the time we meet-“
Jinki feels guilty, but Kibum smiles. Jinki wants to explain, but Kibum doesn’t ask. Jinki is afraid, afraid that Kibum mightn’t care.
And they talk, having a long nice chat just like before.
--
They are walking the familiar road to Kibum’s home when Kibum suddenly stops. Jinki asks what’s wrong, but instead of an answer, he gets a quick kiss on the lips. He stares at Kibum disbelievingly, why, what, he wants to ask. But Kibum pressed a finger onto his lips, silently telling him to shut up.
“I-I’m sorry. It was unexpected for me, too.” Kibum says hoarsely.
Jinki lifts Kibum’s chin so he can stare right into the younger’s eyes. “-‘s nothing to be sorry.” And he kisses Kibum tenderly, as much as he loves him.
“What-“ Kibum asks when they part away. “What about your boyfriend?”
Jinki frowns, “What boyfriend?”
Kibum stays silent.
Seeing how Kibum doesn’t response, Jinki decides to confess, “If there’s someone who I like so much, who I want to spend my days with, it’s you, Kibum. Only you.”
Surprised, Kibum’s eyes widened. “M-me? But I think you have a boyfriend-If it wasn’t for boyfriend, why did you leave me for two weeks?”
“I have exams, Kibum. I’m sorry for not telling you earlier. But I really-the only one I see is you.” Jinki refuses to tell Kibum about the ‘forgetting’ part. Not telling doesn’t mean lying, right?
Nodding, Kibum smiles. And just like that, their fingers entwine, and they kiss.
