Most injuries happen inside the home

So I still don't feel like going to the mountains is like going home, but I have been spending a lot more time there recently and seem to be collecting more than my usual share of scrapes, bruises, burns, lacerations, hypothermia, and idiotic accidents. PS. When you say you lost an intern to hypothermia, you do mean they quit right? I hope? I read it differently at first, maybe too many dramatic war movies for me lately.

That was one of the "near misses." She didn't even threaten to quit, but I was worried I'd have to call in a helicopter or something if I didn't insist she take off all her wet clothes and crawl in her sleeping bag until we could hike out. We had to get a motel for the night.

It all sounds so harrowing. A lesson that science can be dangerous, indeed.
But at least your list of "adventures" includes getting scurvy. I've never known ANYONE who's had scurvy.
