Leoben - no warnings trovia December 29 2010, 16:31:05 UTC
The bookstore was bathed in warm beams of sunlight, peaceful and quiet, as if the owner could be back any minute. Dust had barely started settling on the shelves; the Attacks hadn't touched this place, and no Centurion had marred it later.

Taking “Quiet Your Mind, Change Your Life” off the shelf and placing it on top of “Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga,” Leoben carefully lifted the stash of books and turned to leave.

He smiled serenely. If “Six Essential Practices to Cultivate Enlightenment (With Earbuds)” wouldn't help him find the Way, nothing ever would.

What I love about this is that it is so determinedly, even disturbingly serene. I just picture Leoben reading excerpts of these books to himself on New Caprica, before he goes off to do more nasty things to humans. He probably repeats lines from these books like little mantras.

Great choice for Leoben!

Heh. Most things that Leoben says sound like he read them somewhere, no?

Thanks!

Somehow this just makes my skin crawl. Leave it Leoben to make yoga/meditation self-help books super creepy.

Narcho, Showboat, Hoshi- no warnings lls_mutant December 30 2010, 21:20:21 UTC
The song was something about rain. Felix listened to it idly, sipping his drink. Narcho had a good voice, even if it was a bit coarse, and could actually play the guitar. He'd had no idea Showboat was such a drummer. And Louis playing the bass was just hot. His foot was tapping, until he saw Starbuck frowning.

"It's just a song," he leaned close enough to hear Helo saying.

"Yeah, right," Kara muttered.

But as the band launched into the refrain, Felix had to agree that Kara might have a point.

I belong in the service of the queen…

(I've always wanted to do something with the Pegasus crew and the song "The Rain King" by the Counting Crows.)

I don't know that song at all, but LOL for those guys in a band. And Hoshi would play bass. Because he never gets to do anything on the show and bass players never get to do anything really except tapping their foot, either. ;)

Thanks! He totally would, wouldn't he? (Also, I just can't see him being the lead singer. Definitely not.)

I like the song for the Pegasus because it just has some lines that sure make it sound like they could be talking about their loyalty to Cain.

Hee! This is a fun secret hobby. It makes me wonder why they never had garage bands play at Joe's. You'd think some musical equipment would have ended up somewhere in the Fleet. It seems like it would have been just a matter of time. ;)

He swam through the sea, the bitter water cutting through his matted fur and to his skin. The rain beat down on him, and it barely registered when his paws landed on cold mud. He staggered out of the waves and collapsed, panting and transforming back to a man. His fingers curled in the sand and he he couldn't let go.

Sirius Black, the prisoner of Azkaban, was free.

Political treatise would change the world, Tom knew that. He needed to get his ideas out there, make his voice heard. But damn it, sometimes he just really needed to relax.

I totally ♥ this drabble! I honestly had to read it twice through to realize that the italics meant that Tom was *writing* HP fanfiction, but once I realized what was going on, it totally made me grin. Sirius Black is a good character for Tom to pick too. I totally get that.

So glad you came out to play in our little challenge!

Thanks! (I should have put "He hit 'post'" at the end :) ) This is a cute challenge!

It's fun, isn't it? Low commitment, too, which I think is ideal for this time of year. :)

This totally cracked me up. I feel like Dee is just that efficient that she would have time to be the awesome soldier and comms officer that she was, plus correct a newspaper's grammar and spelling mistakes.

Great addition to our little challenge. Thanks for contributing!

That's awesome to hear! BSG fandom is starting to shrink a bit. It'd be nice to see more new fic coming out.

Drop me a line if you think of it when you get your comm in order. I'd be curious to see it. :)

Lee wanted to peek out between the curtains to see if his family there, but at nineteen he should be beyond that. He stomped down on the impulse and began stretching. Looking wouldn't tell him how often Larry had to pinch Zac awake anyway.

The orchestra was warming up, and the excitement thrummed in his veins. Hours of rehearsal and work, all for this. He smirked, and then snapped his unitard into place. He knelt and adjusted his shoe, and then got back to his feet.

He held his arms out, poised on his toes, and waited for his cue.

This is wonderful! I like how Lee feels confident here (despite barely being able to resist looking out the curtain to see if his family was there). And I liked the presence of great-uncle-in-law Larry too.

I bet Lee was very skilled at this. He would bring his A game to this just like any other education or hobby.

Great choice! Glad you're still contributing to this challenge.

Thanks! :) I couldn't resist the idea, and somehow, I can actually see Lee doing ballet. Maybe it's Bamber's physique or something, but it seems to make some sense.
