It's been ages since I've posted here, and I find myself sort of blank on what to say!

The holidays were quite the rollercoaster as my mom, who had been in bad health for a while, died right after Christmas. I moved. I helped my daughter move. I may be moving again. I got a promotion at work. I took on some offline obligations that take up ( Read more... )

I'm sorry for your loss; it sounds like a lot of changes in a short while.

I'm glad to hear that you might be around more in future, though. One of the good things about fandom is that the party continues, even if we check out for a few months. And you can always rejoin it!

Thank you -- it has been a whirlwind -- and thank you for the welcome back, as well. :-)

Oh, welcome back! and so sorry about your mom. I hope it wasn't too long-drawn-out and traumatic for all.

any Electricity/Propane slash.

Sounds hot! (sorry, I couldn't resist)

Thank you -- despite her poor health, her death was sudden and unexpected. She'd been in the hospital and she was supposed to be going home that day. But she'd kind of wrapped up a lot of loose ends in the last months, so in hindsight it was almost as if she was finished and ready to go. Or something. I don't know--weird in a good way, you know?

Sounds hot! (sorry, I couldn't resist)

LOL!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your life is quite busy these days.

I got disgusted with SGA about mid-season and so have quit watching it entirely. Not really in the fandom, either. I'm also not particularly into the fannish love right now as well, which is sort of sad - a few little bitty fandoms are interesting me, but nothing has grabbed me by the throat.

And you might try anthropomor_fic for Electricity/Propane! :-)

Thank you -- it has been crazy.

Why did you get disgusted with SGA (if you don't mind me asking)? I can't put my finger on why I lost the love, so I'm curious if maybe you can help me figure it out.

Thanks for the link -- I'll check it out. I know you don't have a TV, so I'm not sure if you've ever seen the commercials. They're sort of the home improvement version of Mac and PC, only more slashy.

Eh, I just - I was no longer enjoying the fic, so I was no longer watching for the John And Rodney Show, and all the "moments" that made the fangirls squee, so I was noticing just how stupid the actual episode plots were. I think after two or three in a row that were just DUMB I gave up.

Heh, I saw an adorable Mac/PC vid, but I have never seen the original commercials. I just figured you were talking about the concepts! But I would not be surprised if someone's written it, if they are actual commercial characters.

I think (much like HP) the canon is just too far removed from the story I want to see, if that makes any sense? I guess that's a danger when you come to a fandom via fanfic rather than an interest in the canon itself.

I also think it's hard for me to keep up with an ongoing TV canon, and I don't enjoy the fandom as much without 'knowing' the canon. I did better with SGA between seasons, and one of the things I loved about HP was the time between books--knowing new stuff was in the works, but still having plenty of time for juicy, detailed analysis.
