Make a wallpaper like this:

Alright, I started out with a blank, white 1024x768 canvas. I knew that I wanted to use Johnny Depp so I added my picture first, using a layer mask to take the background from the picture. The pictures that I used were already blacka nd white. If yours aren't do so by using a black and white gradient map or desaturating.

I duplicated it and set it to Screen 100%. Next I added a brightness/contrast adjustment layer to make the picture pop even more. There are my settings but play around to find something that suits your image

I wanted to add some lines to the background so on a layer UNDERNEATH the pictures, I used this brush from fangirls_inc in black.

On a new layer above the brightness/contrast adjustment layer, I flood filled with #790000 and set it to Lighten 35%

Next I added Johnny's name using brushes from http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/30497969/
To make it stand out more, I added a drop shadow and a white stroke

I wanted to make the text stand out even more and add a pop of color so I added this brusha from http://www.deviantart.com/view/20631147/ BEHIND the text in red.

And I also added a stroke and drop shadow to this.

On a layer UNDERNEATH the Johnny pictures, I added some splats from http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/10351757/ in black

Next I added a few brushes from http://king-manga-man.deviantart.com/gallery/ and some more from this set http://www.deviantart.com/view/20631147/ and a tiny text from fangirls_inc

Finally I added this texture from meleada set to Softlight at 31%

That's it.
