Teaching used to be a lot simpler. (I won't say better but definitely simpler.)
Woody would have been immediately snatched up and frog-marched to the principal's office for three hard licks from his paddle and then been made to apologize to the little girl.
Generally speaking, "that kid" met the "board of education" in the principal's office often enough that he/she either learned to behave themselves or they left school.
BTW--in Mississippi, there wasn't a compulsory education law until AFTER I graduated high school in '77, so nobody forced you to go to school other than your parents.

Woody would benefit from that "board of education" they used back in our day

His older brother is a sweetheart, however.

Personality is the final piece of the behavior puzzle, I think.
Without a good one, you struggle with even the best raised children.

This is why I don’t like subbing in elementary schools.

I want to know the kids, which helps avoid the big problems!

The little girls always get the short end of the stick when they have a Woody in their class!

My son was always "that kid". It made for a very frustrating school career that he never finished. Much to my chagrin.

I own my own version of Woody -- I hear you!
