I’m still not feeling so great, physically or emotionally. In fact, I did something horrible today: I went out and purchased new blades. (I never was able to find the ones I hid under my bed at home, which worries me a little because it means someone else might have found them, although no one said anything.) I’m not having particularly strong ( Read more... )

I hear you on the ambivalence. One of the things that's been really useful to me over the past few years is that my therapist has been really willing to hear about and sit with my ambivalence about life, rather than preaching rainbows-and-butterflies recovery shit at me. Being able to explore the dichotomy let me feel like I have some choice in it, rather than just surrendering to killing myself bit by bit.

And I *totally* hear you on the digestive shit. I have constant gas, and I alternate between constipation and "oh shit I have to poop RITE NAO!" and have since I've been weight-restored. My doctor won't take me seriously--she just keeps telling me my body will normalize, which clearly it's not.

I hope you feel better soon. <3

Yeah, having a therapist who understands ambivalence and almost expects it is helpful (and luckily I have one, too). While I do like to believe that recovery is better than being sick, it's not so black and white that you'd never feel bad once recovered. That's just life.

I think digestive issues are one of the most annoying consequences of an ED. My GI doctor doesn't really take mine seriously either. She says it's just from being constipated, but I take a prescription pill for it twice a day as well as fiber twice a day and Exlax twice a week, so I don't think I am anymore. Oh, and I so hear about the gas; I am so gassy...LOL, it's so embarassing.

Thanks. <3
