Update

So, I haven’t updated this thing in, like, an eternity. I’ve continued to read it every day, and have occasionally commented here and there, but I haven’t actually written anything in a really, really long time. I decided a while ago that I would start posting regularly again, and I guess I’m finally taking the first step tonight. I’m hoping I ( Read more... )

Glad to hear from you! I'm very sorry you are still struggling with your eating disorder, though:( I just read a book on how common that is for women to never totally recover. I'm not fully recovered, but I'm not anorexic because Zyprexa makes me eat tons:P

I wish I knew you in-person! I'd be your friend.:-)

Thank you. I do think it's common for many people to sort of just live with their eating disorders for years and years. They're not recovered, but they're not in constant crisis or on death's door either. I hope I don't end up that way forever. It wouldn't be much of a life.

Thank you for your kind words. You're very sweet! :)

I am never very good with words when it comes to such intensely personal situations, even in real life, but I just wanted to say that I really admire your determination to push forward and I think the way you're doing so (making an effort to do MORE, as difficult as it is) is really wise. And also *HUGS*.

On the subject of things I DO know about, I'm just starting the third Hunger Games novel. They're really good but honestly (you may have noticed by the way my LJ has exploded with it recently) they pale in comparison to the fantastic Game of Thrones books. They are absolutely incredible. They're pretty dense reads but fantastic books with, best of all, a TON of diverse, strong, awesome female characters which I always think is lacking in fantasy novels. Can't recommend them enough.

Thank you for being so sweet. You're very kind.

I'm about maybe three-quarters of the way through the first Hunger Games book, and I like it but I'm not in love with it. I didn't necessarily think I'd absolutely love the series, but I thought it would excite me a bit more than it has. I do think I'll finish the books, because I am liking them and want to see what happens, though. Maybe all of the hype around the books made my expectations for them too high, although I suppose they might get better as I go along. We'll see. I do think I'll read the Game of Thrones novels soon, though. Many people seem to think very highly of them. I know it's a very lenghty, engrossing series, too, so it might be nice to get into it--as long as I don't get too sucked into it! ;)

I'm about halfway done the third book, and I'm about the same - I like it, I find it an interesting read, but I'm not really COMMITTED, the way I am with the Game of Thrones books or like I was with the Harry Potter books. I like some of the characters (Katniss, Rue, etc.) but I'm not super committed. But they're easy, quick reads, which is kind of nice because I read the Game of the Thrones books first and they took me awhile to get through. The plus is that you get to know the characters extremely well and therefore are much more engaged/attached to them than I found I was to any of the Hunger Games characters ( ... )

I think I will read them soon. I know of several people who have read them and enjoyed them. I just finished the first Hunger Games book and feel similarly to the way you do, although, of course, I still have two books left. I went into the series thinking all three books were about the actual Hunger Games (I didn't know much about it, clearly), and as I was reading through it I kept thinking, "OMG, how are they possibly going to drag this whole thing out for another two books? Like, two-thirds of the kids are already dead!" LOL.

Thank you for your recommendation. I suppose I won't be reading the books immediately because I have to finish the Hunger Games and have a couple of other things lined up to read, but I think you've definitely sold me. :)
