My weekend consisted of football and shopping

Michigan beat Notre Dame to move up to #6 in the AP poll (a move which makes me a little nervous this early in the season)

The Pats beat the Jets- E and I got to hang out with degruy and friends at Frankie's for the game (they got to watch me spill a diet Coke in my lap)

CDC got sliced and diced in the NY ( Read more... )

It was very nice meeting you and enjoying the game. Thank goodness there was no over time in THAT game. I don't think I could have taken a 3rd in that short amount of time. Hope your arm's doing better. Darned house jumping out and hitting you like that. Not nice

Yes, it was great to meet you too! I had a lot of fun on Sunday, and I think I would have gone catatonic if that game had gone into OT!

Hi! princessbunny recommended I come here to ask you about something. I'm supposed to have my son get his first set (2 month) of shots on Monday and am completely torn up about reactions and such (after reading a lot on the internet, and about the MMR-autism link possibility). Anyway, she said you were a good place to go for *factual* information on it so here I am. Any advice or info you could direct me to, if you've the time, that is? I'd appreciate anything, as I only have two days to make a decision to either give him shots, not give him shots, or delay. Thank you so much!

I work at CDC, so I will say upfront that I am heavily biased to the use of vaccines as an effective publiv health intervention.

As far as an MMR-autism link, the World Health Organization's official stance is that there is no scientific proof. Also, the suggested link is through the vaccine preservative, thimerosol, which is no longer used in any vaccine, other than influenza.

The MMR shot is not (and should not be) given until 1 year of age, per the American Committee on Immunization Practices.

Thank you! I need some pro-vaccine opinions, too, since all I'm getting seems to be anti. I really need to know both sides of the issue, so thanks. :)
