Firstly: EEEE! I can't tell you how happy I am that you are back watching the episodes each week :)
I agree with everything you had to say about season 4 except possibly I'm sad that you don't feel Angela works as a three dimensional real person. I agree she's underwritten as to her ultimate motivation (trekker & I were discussing this and she said much the same as you). Maybe I'm just a total Cristine fangirl, but I nonetheless she really works for me as a believable human being. Just not an especially pleasant one. By the way, I agree that the wheels in general fall off the wagon towards the end of 'Fugitives'. It's sad - it's like as a show they don't pace themselves so the final few eps of every season seem so 'blah'.
Glad that you're enjoying the new season - I agree with all of that too. I will have to listen to Hayden now. I hadn't noticed about her voice but now I'm distinctly curious!
Aww, thank you. ♥ Watching the show together with my friends is one of the best part of being in fandom and it would be so stupid to miss that out.

I wouldn't go as far as saying she doesn't work for me as a three dimensional character at all but a few more humanizing character moments here and there would work in favor of the character. Even Noah gets his family moments to balance out his morally questionable actions but Angela is given much less chances to act like a mother.

When he joined the team he cleaned up a lot of story arcs and I do think they originally planned for

A sort of Good Mom Vs Bad Mom

I sort of think of her as caught in an unresolvable loop where his inherent goodness is what she loves about him best. And yet at the same time, she fears that this quality will lead to him being eaten alive by the world, so she's always quite ambiguous in how she treats him - alternatively rewarding and scolding the same behaviour.
That is actually the best way I have seen anyone put it into words. Makes a lot of sense for me and I agree about the greatness of that stroke/slap in Into Asylum. I hadn't know that it was unscripted, though and it makes me love Cristine all the more.
I never get the impression that her love for him is greater than her resentment. And for that matter, I never believe that Nathan's love for *her* is greater than his need to be validated and indeed his fear of her.Perhaps the last season is still so fresh in my mind that my perception is a bit swayed but the small moment between Nathan and Angela in the diner at Coyote Sands and her reaction to his death made me feel like they might love each other

I didn't expect to enjoy Heroes and was just watching out of habbit, but Samuel starts to grow on me ... must be, because he's the new baddie.
Also, where is Mohinder?! He did survive his gig as The Fly, didn't he? It's been a while since the last season and I want to forget it anyway, which doesn't help to remember *lol*
And because Knepper is just wonderful. :) I hear he has been promoted to series regular, so there is a good chance we get lots of Samuel in the future.
As for Mohinder, it looks like TPTB reacted to the back clash against his character and have drastically reduced his screen time. He is supposed to pop up later in the season but he is hardly treated as a original cast member and series regular anymore.
Well, my first thought would be that initially, they weren't sure how much access they were going to have to Quinto, so they were hedging their bets, and once they knew they had him, they switched to version two.
Because heaven forbid anyone on the show (besides occasionally Peter) should have any interest in Nathan other than as a potential villain or chess piece. I don't really get his apparent lack of popularity (with the audience, I mean), anyway, but I suppose that's a pointless discussion.
On a more emotional note though, that switch just pisses me off. But I am used to that reaction by now. Sort of inured, really. I suppose I should just remind myself that at least I am not a Mohinder fan...
Or for Peter and Noah to realize that they should share their mustard and cereals as roomies - and now I have the mental image of Peter and Noah mirroring Claire's and Gretchen's pyjama party from the end of the episode...Man, I am getting urges to write all sorts of cracky fic these days... this, and Peter turned into a dog

I had that emotional knee jerk reaction too. It's sad that there is this distinction between first and second class cast members now. That's not how you treat actors who have been with the series from the first day (when Sylar was still a shadow). But yeah, Mohinder and to some extent Hiro and Ando fans must be even more frustrated.
I just hope that the switch doesn't indicate some major reworking of "Nathan's" story line in future episodes but that they only realized it would make more sense for Lydia to sense the orignal owner of the body.
Man, I am getting urges to write all sorts of cracky fic these days... this, and Peter turned into a dog... and a Petrelli-Bennet holiday...Oh please, indulge in these urges! I would love to read all three fics. And like I said, this is going to be the last season, so why not make the most of it

How could Arthur treat Peter the way he did when he saw the face of the women he claimed to love until they started trying to kill each other?
Well, aside from the fact that I hardly thing Arthur genuinely loved Angela and instead saw her as a possession, I think it's the very fact that he saw Angela in Peter rather than himself that drove some of his rage. Had Peter been a girl, I think it would have been far more acceptable to Arthur and he may even have been fairly doting towards a daughter. Creepy, but doting. The Petrelli family seems to be one particularly obsessed with gender roles, and the fact that Peter didn't fit from the start and then overtly started defying them is a large part of what Arthur seems to dislike about him. Although, if he had been so gentle and sensitive and then looked like Arthur on top of it... well, that may have actually made things much worse for Peter, since Arthur would hate to look into his own eyes and see that.

True. But despite Arthur's misogynistic streak, I got the impression that Angela got to him much more than his sons. And since he already got his clone with Nathan, I still don't get the extent of his disaffection with Peter. And I would have assumed his resemblance to Angela would somehow soften his cruelty but it seemed to result in the opposite.
It's probably terrible of me, but I really enjoy Angela as the arch, evil matriarch. Probably because she's my favorite go to character in fic to make into the villain, since it's a good way to make characters miserable without killing anyone and without them being allowed to win.The thing his, in order for me to only view her as a villain there have been too many glimpses of her vulnerable, loving side. That is true, and I think that's largely founded on their relationship pre-crazy. I don't think Peter had a relationship in any significant way with Arthur before he snapped completely, since I think that occurred around when Nathan tried to screw up with his future with Claire and Meredith. Peter not conforming went from excusable and unimportant to a gross slight against Arthur personally.
It's like we are getting teased that somewhere behind that evil matriarch exterior is a loving mother but it's neither here nor there. If you compare her with Noah, who is set up as a very similar character, the father/husband/morally grey guy ratio is much more balanced.
Okay, but there I'd have to say the reason we don't witness her as a loving mother the way Noah is a loving father is because Angela isn't one. Her love is twisted and cruel. She doesn't believe in unconditional love and she fucked Nathan up royally by teaching that

Yeah, I know. But... but.. the first time we saw her she was arrested for stealing socks and did that cute little forehead touch with Peter. Of course she slapped him right after and told him that Nathan doesn't love him but I just miss these little signs of affection. Granted, there is not much room for that now anymore after everything that happened. I'm also very curious to see her dealing with the aftermath of her actions. I wonder why she hasn't tried to reach Peter yet? She obviously keeps a close eye on Nathan but with the exceptions of Noah's remark to call her, we don't have any indication that she worries about Peter.
I really think, with the carnival set up, they have every reason to be intrigued by the idea of forming their own society without worries about fitting in or hiding. This, I think, is obviously less appealing to Claire or Nathan, but I

/And to the PS cracks on my flist, is there a way to apply all the layers and retouching you did to an icon to another without having to start from scratch?/
I am not quite sure what you mean, but here is what you can and cannot do, I hope it helps:
You can add another image to the same icon as another layer and thus all the other layers would apply to it too, if you use it as the background image.
You cannot (as far as I know) 'save settings' and repeat on an unrelated image or one that is not added to the original icon you did the work on.

That's what I meant, thank you. I wasn't expressing myself very clearly. I just thought that there might be a way to copy the settings and apply them to another image. When you have two similar screencaps with similar lighting and coloring for example. I don't really have a plan when I'm playing with images and just add layers upon layers until it looks nice to me and I would never be able to achieve the same result on two different source images. But thank you. :)
