I'm so sorry, Amy. I've been there, and I know there's nothing that I can say that can really help you here, but just know that you're not alone.

Once the hurt phase passes you'll move right on into the "he's a bastard" phase. That's always fun. Stay in the thick of that one for as long as you can because its better than thinking of what you could have done differently. Bottom line is: You deserve better than someone who would break up with you in an email. Doesn't change how you feel about him or what he means to you, but take it for what its worth.

I'm so sorry Amy. I hate that there is nothing i can do to help you. I really wish i was in LA just so you could come over and lay on my couch and eat my cookies and do whatever you felt like doing. We werent crazy close in college or anything, but i almost feel like i've gotten to know you better the past few years. I just wish i could help. :( But please know you have many many people who love you and Shelly is right... you deserve way better than anyone who would break up with you in an email. It will get better, even though it doesnt seem like it now.
