Barack Obama came to campus for a rally today on the steps of Old Main.  I wasn't certain if I was going to stick around for the actual speech; I wanted to stroll around and see the crowd.  There certainly was a crowd.  I ended up finding two of my friends who were volunteering - handing out tickets, directing people to the correct line (which ( Read more... )

already relations between groups is a little strained

I'll never understand that. And really, that's the problem with politics. It's derisive, and doesn't get people to come together at all. Even people with the same general politics can't get along. It's a shame.

Yep. A few days ago my one friend wrote a letter to the school paper about Obama, and got an emailed reply that stated that (among Obama's many faults) he has a 'haunting resemblance to the Antichrist.' I mentioned this to another friend, laughing that anyone could have an opinion like crazed, and he replied immediately, "He is [the antichrist]." That killed that particular line of conversation.
