[Report] Tegomasu no Mahou in Niigata, Nov. 3 @ 5:00pm

Nov 07, 2011 15:35

This past Thursday we headed to Niigata for our first dose of Tegomasu no Mahou!

The tickets for Niigata were strange, because they didn't indicate arena or stand at all, just a block letter and number plus your seat number. We had B2, #31~31, and the arena was pretty small (I'd say it fit about 4,000?) so I figured it would be all arena and pretty close to the stage... but when we walked in it was slightly different. The stage was shaped like a big plus sign with a rotating main stage in the middle, with blocks A,C,E,and F set up as arena seats. B and D were stand/bleacher seats all the way on opposite sides of the stage which was disappointing... but ended up being pretty good seats!!

There were 4 screens facing each side of the arena. The concert started with the animated bears... talking! They announced the rules of the concert: No eating or drinking during the concert... Massu said he won't eat too! No playing or running during the concert, no soccer either! Tegoshi promised he won't do it either! Please hold your uchiwa at breast-height... If you don't respect the rules of the concert, Tegomasu's magic might not work!!!

The video then progressed to Tegoshi and Massu heading to a movie theater. In the video, Massu buys some popcorn, sits down and starts eating it to which the audience goes: eeeeh?? As he just promised not to eat! Haha, though I suppose it was just a video so he wasn't really eating.

Setlist:

Mahou no Melody
When this song started, a dark figure passed by us to the stage... it was Tegoshi!! Apparently the dressing rooms are on either side of the arena, so one of the walkways to the stage was the open area between us bleachers and the arena seat!! Tegoshi of course headed to the side stage on our side of the arena, standing at the very end of the stage making him very very close to us!! Needless to say we got a lot of eye contact from him and I'm 99% sure he saw my uchiwa and smiled at me xD

My uchiwa~

I'm also going to Shizuoka but figured I'd have a better chance of him seeing it in Niigata xD

Bokura no Sora
Ryoukiteki honey

Opening MC: Tego did his Tegoshi desu! and Massu did his "ikemen tantou" Masuda-desu introduction. They talked about how nice and small this venue is...

Massu: It's small but I can't see your faces at all!!!
Audience: Eeeeh?!!!

But then they assured us they could see ALL of our faces, so their goal for the concert was to memorize all of us! xD

Tanabata Matsuri
Yukidaruma
Ai ai gasa
Mr. Freedom - Massu's mentioned that he likes this song because the key is perfect for him, and he really does sound good in it live!!

Mini MC
They talked more about being able to see peoples faces from the stage... remember how "that girl cried during that song" and couples holding hands during Hanamuke~ Tegoshi said he tries not to look at couples holding hands during Hanamuke though because it makes him cry, haha aww.

Then they said for the next three songs they'd sit by the audience and sing. Tegoshi said he could use magic. He said that when the pointed to the audience and said "Ei!!" all the girls would sit down and go "fuaaaa~" lol So he did that and we sat down with a "Fuaaa~" haha

Kushami - with guitar
Sotsugyou album - with piano
Wasuremono

Hanabi - Tegoshi on guitar

Tegomasu talked about how they sang together before Tegomasu was even officially formed, so they would do a medley of those old songs they used to sing. Massu started to translate "テゴマスの歴史メドレ" as "History... medley.... is that wrong?" Haha, it was cute.

Tegomasu's history
Yuyake no uta
Ding Dong (Tokio)- Tegoshi
Tomodoi nagara (Arashi) - Massu
Zutto
Arigatou Ima

They showed pictures of chibi-Tegomasu as they sang the songs. Kawaii~

Miso Soup - They took the two miso soup bowls and put them on each side of the stage (so one on our side again, yay!!)... then Tegoshi and Massu walked to each bowl. Massu was on our side and dramatically revealed that there was a door on the bowl for him to climb in! LOL. Then as they sang, he played with the big chopsticks like paddles and picked up the big tofu (which was to sit on) and pretended to try eat it... lol

Kiss~ kaerimichi no love song
There were two cresent moons hanging above each side of the stage, which lowered down for Tegomasu to ride on. They also rotated around.

Right before the last note of Kiss~, Massu jumped up as though he caught something and the song stopped. Tegoshi asked him what he was doing, and Massu said he caught a sound! Tegoshi told him there's no way he could catch sound, but then Massu showed it to him secretly and Tegoshi jumped back saying "it's real!! it's sound!!" Then they told the audience to watch Massu's hands... then he released the "sound" and the band played the last note while the video screens showed a ray of stars (the "sound") coming out of Massu's hands, lol cute.

MC
They told us since we're at their concert, we could catch sound too now and should try it at home xD

They talked about how for both this concert and Sapporo, they had to leave early and go back the same day :( Tegoshi asked Massu what time he woke up this morning, and Massu said 4:30!! But it was lucky he got up because he set three alarms, but one of them the battery died, the other he completely ignored (haha), and the last one he heard but just at the last ring before it turned off.

Then they talked about how Massu always takes a long time to get ready but changes fast, while Tegoshi is pretty slow at changing. Tegoshi said that as a Jr. he never had to change quickly, like would only come out for two songs during a concert so never had to rush, so he thinks he got into the habit of taking his time to change. Then they said Massu takes a long time to get ready to leave... to which Massu said after a concert he likes to change into his sweats and just sit for a bit.

Then they talked about Massu's sleeping habits while traveling... Tegoshi said Massu sleeps like a business man, with his head hanging down instead of back against the seat... right? To which Massu said "I don't know how I sleep because I'm sleeping!!!" Haha.

Then they talked about the shinkansen ride to Niigata and how Massu's music was really loud. Tegoshi said it was funny because when he turned to Massu to tell him that his music was loud, Massu suddenly burst out laughing!! So Tegoshi asked what that was about. Massu said he was playing a game on his cell while listening to music, and he didn't want to answer Tegoshi immediately otherwise it would be game over (and he kept imitating the sounds of a Mario game, haha)... so he waited thinking it was something like Tegoshi asking how to read a certain kanji (apparently Tego was reading in the train)... then when Massu finally answered Tego and was told his music was loud, he just kind of thought it was funny and burst out laughing!!

Then Massu was saying something about all the things Tegoshi carries with him on the train and how it was sprawled everywhere? (I think, I didn't catch all of it) Tegoshi said that he put things in his pockets and had on rather tight jeans that day... to which Massu interrupted and burst out dancing and singing "TAITO na jeans ni nejikomu~" (BoA's VALENTI) ROFL!! But anyway, Tego had on tight jeans so when he sat things just kind of came out apparently haha.

They talked a little about wanting to go to Sweden again and how Tegoshi went to Italy for filming Hotaru no Hikaru and ItteQ. Tegoshi will be in Hotaru no Hikari with actress Matsuyuki Yasuko, so Tegoshi said "Massu you like her right?" to which Massu said "yeah for now we'll say I like her" just because Tegoshi is in the movie with her! Then Massu said he doesn't really have a favorite entertainer... like if he were asked he'd say "I dunno, me?" Haha.

Then they said that for each venue, they've been making songs about that city! So they were going to sing one about Niigata! Tegoshi readied his guitar while Massu had the mic and tamborine, and they sang "Sasatto Niigata" xD I didn't catch all the lyrics, but they mentioned Tegoshi snowboarding and a whole bunch of foods (of course, Massu!!)

Then they said they would sing a song that's been around a long time but they have never performed before and went into...

Kibou no hikari wo kokoro ni tomosou
I love this song! It was nice to hear live. Instead of playing the tamborine though, Massu just wore it around his neck, haha.

Hanamuke
The band played the first note but the arena went quiet... and Tegomasu started singing Hanamuke acapella!! But then in the second half of the chorus.. Tegoshi messed up and had to stop saying "Sorry!! Once more!! Sorry!!!" Haha... So then they redid it. It was gorgeous. The band came in during the first verse again.

Sakura Girl!!! Everyone was surprised to hear them do a NEWS song, it sounded great!! If Koyashige show up to one of the shows, I wonder if they will join in...???

Yuyake to koi to jitensha

Over Drive - this is totally the new Highway. Audience sings the NE, NE, NE! parts

HIGHWAY
DANCING Tegomasu! The band played a long remix of the songs intro, and Tegoshi and Massu had solo dances then joined in together. Then the song started and they had choreography for the chorus! As much as Tegomasu is mostly a "singing" group, you can tell they love to dance so I'm glad they added this in this year!!!

Aoi Bench Audience is asked to sing along

Encore
Before Tegomasu came out again, a VTR of the two horses they rode in ~Uta came on. The two horses introduced themselves, and Massu's horse said his back hurts because Massu is heavy xD Tegoshi's horse was glad he has Tegoshi, haha. Then asked us if we loved them and Tegomasu, then if we loved the zou-san from ~Ai! Well if we did, please call them~! And we did, so the elephants showed up in the video too. Then they said we have to perform magic to get Tegomasu to come out again... so hold your wand in your right hand, spin it around three times to the left, then straight up with an "Ei!!" They had us practice a couple times and the last time.. Tegomasu came out again!!

Cheetah gorilla orangutan
Tegomasu came out riding on bears! Basically the same as their mascots. The bears hold wands that the steam comes out of (like the noses of the elephants in ~Ai). Tegoshi was right by our walkway again!! A little too much to the right side... but really close!! He saw me and my friend (who is white) and tossed one of his signed balls our way, but he was still a little too much to the right so the girl in front of us got it :( Boo~!!

Streamers were thrown during this song and luckily they had them shooting all over the arena so we got some! There were also some paper hearts that flew down during the next song, but they were a bitch to catch and we didn't get any D: The staff were really strict and refused to give us any that fell on the stage too... sniff....

Ai no naka de Audience sings the chorus lines

They thanked us (Massu messed up when he was trying to say thank you, haha) and talked a little bit about their activities for the year, how a lot happened with NEWS and whatnot, but that they wanted to go on happily. They said they've memorized all of our faces, so we'd better be here again the next time they come to Niigata! Haha. Then as usual they headed towards a backstage and yelled Thank You! to the fans without mics.

The concert ended with a orgel version of Ai no Naka de to which the fans sing along to (much like Kiss~, which I prefer) and written thank you messages from Tegomasu on the screen.

Overall a great concert as usual!! My only disappointment was that they didn't perform "Hajimete no Asa" which I honestly think is one of their most beautiful performancees live... but yay for Hanamuke ♥

The day before we actually went to Takitsuba in Yoyogi... where we also got to see Kis-My!!! that report later~
