Summary: A month after the accident, Ronnie and Brett are getting back to normal.

The alarm went off a mere three inches from Ronnie's ear and she groaned in response. It was the second morning in a row she'd woken up naked, but this time Brett was with her. More accurately, he was beneath her. The night before was the first time since her accident that they'd gotten tipsy on the back porch and headed upstairs to bed, most definitely not taking things easy anymore.

Ronnie leaned over and flicked the alarm off, a slight pounding in her temples. She wasn't really supposed to drink with the pain pills, so she'd gotten much more of a buzz than he did.

"Morning already?" Brett groaned.

"Yes, morning already," She kissed his nose, peppering other small, soft kisses across his cheeks and forehead. "Too much to drink?"

He opened one eye and looked at her. "Not me. You, on the other, got wild last night. No more beer until you stop taking those pills."

"You didn't like the wild woman?" Chuckling lightly, Ronnie rolled off of him and bent to grab her jeans off of the floor. "But yeah, I won't do that again. My head is not happy."

Brett sat up and watched her, blankets pooled around his waist. "Why don't you let me and Julie do the morning feeding and turn out and sleep in a bit?"

"On the couch," She yawned and pulled her jeans on. By now she was an expert at getting them on over her cast. "You know what today is?"

"Hmmm?" He got out of bed and started getting dressed too.

"Exactly one month since the Bates Ride."

Both lapsed into thoughtful silence as they contemplated the past month. For Ronnie, it was hell not being able to ride and do the normal barn work. She didn't like just sitting around cleaning tack and trying to grain horses at a pathetically slow crawl. In another month the cast would come off and she'd start working herself back into shape. At least they had Julie now, so she didn't feel like she was putting everything on Brett.
