it's just the nature of this form of communication
it will never be as meaningful and connecting as personal conversations, or even the phone
you can't try to make it what it's not :)
and if you can't - why get upset over it? :)

of course, I know what you mean, but to me the key to not getting upset over this is just remembering - this is the nature of the form of communications. nothing personal. after all, we all do exactly that, and you do too. the phrase "studying for exams. You?" is not too personal either, you know :)

Except in my case, if I do start talking to someone, that phrase is just as I described it - a restrained answer. Otherwise I would burden people with my talkativeness.. :)

that's the point
you don't bond over IM
you also don't get to your computer thinking: "ok, now I'm going to chat, yay!" You have IM running while you do other things, and other things are a priority

И вообще, почти полпервого, и экзамены на носу. Ты чего не спишь???
А ещё пропустила мишкину лазанью. Ma man cooked, and you missed it!!!!

:)
I can't say anything for myself, nothing that is a good real reason.
I'm just in an annoying mood, and especially annoyed at things.

I'm sorry about the fact that I didn't visit - to be honest, I was extremely tired, and I haven't really felt well lately.
I'll try to make it up to you guys. :)
