My neighbor, who is about 245 years old jsut called. In her crackling voice, she asked if I had anything stolen from my yard last night. I told her no, but my GPS was stolen awhile back. She said that last night, someone came all the way up to her picture window and stole a big white pot. By the way she's describing it, I'm thinking it's one of ( Read more... )

They have been getting crazy lately. I have noticed more people walking around that I never noticed before. I'm not so sure that's good either. You know my work, well NO ONE goes there. Kids don't even go there trick or treating. Anyway, last nite I was locking up as I am by MYSELF all nite with 8 individuals in wheelchairs for 10 hours. It gets pretty scary. Well hells bells if I didn't open the front door to double check the locks and find a guy RIGHT on the front steps walking in circles. Scared the shit out of me. Police patrolled but what the hell was he doing at the tard farm? I closed the door so fast i think I scared him. He obviously didnt live here or he would have known there is nothing of value in that house but he also diodnt belong there because there are like NO houses there. All there is is the apartments across the street, a huge field, and the gas station. I think all the outsiders from the stupid winmills brought all this on. That is when the weirdness and thefts began. That's also when they had to drag the 18 yr ( ... )

We went through a rash of minor crimes here too.. and it is crippling to the elderly and disabled. I'll tell you something else, if it isn't taken seriously by the local officials-- it can thwart the economic recovery that some are enjoying. We had a "gang" (which was 3 teens) who were holding up restaurants on one of our main streets (with a fake gun, no less). It took the police SO long to finally put a patrol care on that Avenue.. and people just fully stopped going out to eat there. It was one of those neighborhoods with a little movie house, and lots of places to eat, and a bar.. and it really hurt the area. So I would suggest that you neighbors write a polite letter to the sheriff and local police and tell them how important this issue is, soon!
And for your old neighbor, just assure her that you have your ears open for her and that she can call anytime.. isolation is so scary for older folks.

Man that really sucks! I hate it when old people are tormented by these thieves. Why would they do that? Makes no sense! Lock up Jen and tell your sister and mom to as well!
