My Xbox DVD drive has started to go downhill. Two games I've bought in the past two weeks have started to screw-up, with many a 'disk may be dirty or...' error

yeah, i am worried about it too, mine still seams to work ok but as i brought an early one i am not sure if it will for ever (i think its the early ones that are fsked, correct me if i am wrong)
Yeah, from what I can tell. Originally they were using Philips DVD drives in Xboxes, then they switched to Thompson drives (the troublesome ones), then they switched to Samsung drives, but I think there are more Thompson drives out there than the other types.
Also, from what I've read, a lot of people (in the UK) have phoned Microsoft up and had their Xboxes repaired free of charge (even out of warranty) by Microsoft within a week. Don't think they change the DVD drive though, just fix it so it lasts another two years... Not bad service though. I might have to try that.
