I'm not sure how many people will be entertained by this, but my dad sent me this link to a comedy sketch about what happens when you combine voice recognition with Scots. He recently got a new car with a voice-activated, hands-free cell phone system, and his only comment about this video was, "No wonder I can never call some people."

Ironically, my dad actually DOES says "please" and "thank you" to his voice recognition system, even when it's not necessary. Like...

Dad: Call home, please.
Phone: Calling home.
Dad: Thank you!

I think that's only reasonable, otherwise you'd get out of the habit of saying please and thank you!

Its SOOO true!! I've been trying my voice dialer on my new Android phone for months and it's never ever ever worked not even once! I can't imagine how hard it is with a thick accent LOL That shit is too funny!
