Seiyuu ka-! chapter 13 summary
Released in Hana to Yume issue 4 2010. Will be in volume 3!
Throughout this chapter Hime is "Shiro", except for a bath scene. So I will not mention the main character as "Hime", but "Shiro".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shiro is carrying a couple kittens in her jacket. She arrives at a suite apartment that is jam packed full of cats. This just happens to be Senri's place, but she swears this is a Cat Mansion.
How did she end up in this situation? Just a few minutes ago, she was walking outside in the rain when she stumbled upon Senri Kudou doting on an abandoned litter of kittens. When their eyes met he gathered the kittens up and started trudging away. However, the kittens all pounced out of the box, which resulted in both Senri and Shiro running around frantically to gather them up again. They ended up bringing them to this place, Senri's "mansion".
When inside, Senri comes out of a room and tells Shiro to stop loitering and quickly bring the kittens to him. Shiro hands them out and is in the middle of apologizing, but Senri swipes them away from her and shuts the door behind him quickly, leaving Shiro by herself and infuriated. First he made a girl cry, then he performed a fake act on her, then he left her saying, "I have no intentions of being friends with you", and now he has this kind of attitude towards a kind boy who helped him in the rain. Truly, he's unforgivable.
Shiro glances through the window and sees her male reflection. It's a good thing he hasn't realized she actually "Hime Kino", otherwise things would be much more ugly. She snickers and hatches a plot for revenge. She'll toy with Senri with an act and ultimately tell him something similar to what he hold her.
Senri comes out of the room again and is not expecting to see a moping Shiro curled up on the floor surrounded by curious cats. Senri is a bit nervous-looking^^. He asks what's going on with Shiro...
Shiro's plan is as follows: "Shiro" is a pitiful boy who has been abandoned by his bad stepmother. Since the friendly talk of "Hime" has always been rewarded with the cold shoulder, "Shiro" will be more aggressive and make Senri feel like he can't just leave this poor kid alone. Then when Senri has opened his heart, the boy "Shiro" will tell him he has no plans of becoming friends with him. She chuckles and puts her plan into motion.
Her first move is to thank Senri, in her prince voice, for bringing her along too. However, she fails when instead of sounding like a prince, she sounds like the walking dead^^. Senri looks down at her with what looks like pity, but he turns around and walks away into the hallway not saying a word. So not only did she fail to talk properly, she failed to grab his attention. He completely ignored her! She feels like the loser here^^
It isn't long until Senri returns and starts walking towards her again, which Shiro didn't expect. He grabs her by the arm and tells her to come with him. They go into the hallway and he takes her to the bathroom. He suggests she takes a bath right away. He thinks that horrifying voice she just made is due to a cold she got from helping him in the rain. Her cold will get worse if she doesn't warm herself up soon. He'll even lend her some of his clothes until her clothes are dry. he leaves as sudden as he came.
So it was kind of a success, in a way. Shiro is frustrated that there are times when she can do a prince voice and times when she can't. At this rate, her and P.Yamada will be finished. It's terrifying~~~~!!!
After her bath and she's dressed in clothes Senri gave her, she tries again with her voice to thank him for being so nice. However, Senri remarks that it sounds like her cold got even worse^^. He gives her some tea to help her throat. She gladly accepts it and slurps it down. It seems Senri actually is opening his heart a little, even if it isn't how she imagined it. Still, it's not quite the right time to drop the bomb on him.
Senri asks her about her parents. He figures they must be worried about her since it's late and offers to lend her his phone to call them. This is the perfect opportunity. She turns away and pathetically tells him she has no parents that worry about her. This is what will win it for her! Senri's bound to feel pity for her now, thus clearing an opening to tell him off.
Senri: "So you're alone?"
Shiro: "Yeah (not entirely false)."
Senri: "Aren't you still an elementary student?"
Shiro: "?! No! I'm a little older."
Senri: "I see. Are you okay being by yourself?"
Senri looks at her with such a concerned, sad-looking expression that she's stunned. She confirms that she's okay all by herself. He pats her on the head.
Senri: "You're remarkable."
He's not pitying her! He's commending her! Why is he making such a face? She's at a complete loss.
After they're done drinking their tea, Senri asks Shiro if she'll help him feed those kittens some milk. She blushes at the thought of feeding those adorable kittens and agrees. The kittens start meowing when they see them come in. Senri picks one of them up and gives it a bottle, gently smiling and saying, "There, there..." Shock surges throughout Shiro's body. She slowly leans away from him. Obviously, this new side to him is seriously creeping her out^^.
Senri finally gets to the part when he asks what her name is, which causes her to break in a sweat as she answers that it's "Shiro". Senri explains that the very first thing he had to do when they got there was warm the kittens up. Then he had to move all the other cats in separate rooms because the kittens might be carrying illness. It feels like he's being very, very talkative, which Shiro isn't used to at all. He never talks at school, so this is a whole new experience. But anyway, now she understands why he swiped the kittens away from her before. He had to hurry and take care of them. He was not being inconsiderate like she thought. She has to wonder why he acts so differently at school. She has no idea what's going on.
Cats located outside start meowing and scratching at the door, surprising both of them. Senri figures it's about time he let them back in. This causes Shiro's thoughts to turn to this house full of cats. She picks up a play toy and starts playing with them. She asks him if he brought all of these cats home with him, which he takes pride in admitted he took them all in^^.
Shiro: "Don't the other people in the house get angry?"
Senri: "Oh...I'm the only one in this house so it's alright."
Shiro can't believe it. He's all by himself when he's at school, and now she finds out he's even alone at home. He just has to be lonely! But when she asks if he is, he says he's not. Shiro looks at him and realizes he doesn't look the way he claims. He's not happy at all.
Shiro thoughts: [Is there such thing as a person who isn't lonely being by themselves?]
She reaches out her hand and pats Senri on the head, just as he did to her before.
Shiro: "You're remarkable."
Senri looks at her wide-eyed and then glances downward. He breaks out in the most cheerful, genuine smile, causing her heart to thump. She continues to ask herself why someone like this is living alone.
Another problem arises for Shiro, though. She's supposed to be humoring him! She just pat him on the head out of real feelings! Honestly, she has no idea why she did that if she's supposed to be pretending. Will she even be able to tell him something so mean like, "We'll never be friends", now? She holds her head and wallows in frustration. Senri surprises her when he comes up to her and informs her that her clothes are all dry.
When she's outside his door, Senri tells her to be careful as she goes home since it's already dark. Her mind is set on telling him what she's planned on telling him all along. However, when her mind is set on, and what her heart is set on are two different things.
Shiro: "Would...Would it be alright if I came to visit you again?"
Senri blankly stares are her and she freaks out inwardly^^. She knows that what she just said was the exact opposite of what she was planning on saying, and he's going to refuse anyway!
Indeed, just as she thought, Senri coldly tells her that she can't. Shiro is angry at herself for asking him such a thing. She stands outside his place wriggling about in distress. Then about a minute later Senri opens his door and holds out a folded piece of paper to her.
Senri: "I mean, you can't visit me, but you can come visit the cats. So before you come over, e-mail me here."
He looks at her with an awkward look and Shiro gladly accepts it. He once again does something totally unexpected. Shiro knows for sure now that she wants to know more about Senri Kudou. He has so many mysterious sides to him that she never gets to see.
As she going back home, P.Yamada sends her a text message with a map. This is the start of a whole new dilemma. It turns out the person in charge of the Sentaimono series' sound wants to hear "Shiro's" voice the next day at 5 PM, and she can't make a prince voice right now!!! Well, now she'll have to face this problem.
Then after all that, she remembers that Senri's mother is Sakura Aoyama! Man, what a time to remember something like that...

I got HanaYume issue 4 this morning. But I'm so busy later on that I may not even be able to listen to the drama CD track~! So sad~
The truth is out....mua ha ha ha ha...I wonder how Hime will act towards Senri now at school? She's seen a different side of him.
And...."come see the cats?" PSSSSHHHHH~ We all know what he's really saying. XD
I really do hope Shiro and Senri will become great friends. And apart of me wants Senri to find out the truth about Shiro much later, not right away. Imagine the drama when he does find out if he does find out much later. I know a certain person who doesn't like drama in shojo, and neither do I . But I, as a gender-bender / crossdresser fan, have seen many instances where the person is found out right away and then it goes on and on! Hana-Kimi! Sano found out Mizuki was a girl in the first volume, and that's a 23 volume series!
Man, I won't guess what will happen. I like to be kept clueless about future developments.
I think Shiro could use some advice from Megumi Yamamoto, don't you all think? She had voice troubles too. She needs to pinpoint what causes her prince voice to come out and then stick with it. (Megumi's trigger was Yahiro's happiness.)
