I have no clue how their machines work or how their videos are encoded, but it might be possible, if the subs (lyrics) are not embedded into the video itself.

i'm not concerned about whether or not it's possible to add subs because i'm fairly certain it is. i'm wondering if they'd care to hire someone to do that and if it'd be a worthwhile project for me to embark on :x

Or you could do a cheapo version where you print out romanji lyrics and ninja-style leave self-printed booklets in all karaoke rooms! 8D!

haha yeah. my friends have said they brought their own lyrics...BUT THEN SOMETIMES YOU SEE A SONG THAT YOU WISH YOU HAD PRINTED! it's not the same..spontaneity, i guess? ah well :x

OK-- I reading your entries and I see that you sometimes go to karaoke bars-- where do you go? I think one time Corrine wanted to go, but I don't think she knew where one was. Perhaps one day, if we do decided to go, we might run into you there.
