I took a couple of photos a couple of weeks ago - just walked around my city and enjoyed the beauty of spring. I love trees, flowers, everything green and living. So i decided to post them, alongside some random city-scapes for those who are interested in what Moldovan capital looks like. That's all there is to this entry =P

So this is Moldova. Really beautiful. I have to admit I expected something else. We Western Europeans really have to learn that Europe doesn't end at the Eastern German / Austrian border...
Thanks for sharing. I love that fountain and the garden with the wooden houses. :-)

Chisinau (pronounced 'ki-shi-nau) is much-much cleaner these days than it was right after the collapse of USSR. Our biggest problem is that it was not built with heavy traffic in mind and many streets are too narrow to incorporate all the traffic. Plus no places to park your cars, especially in down town... AND we can't find a way out of our prolonged political crisis - we're a parliamentarian republic and our parliament can't elect a president for more than a year already... It is very damaging for any economy, especially a developing one. Oh well, we're all hoping for the best!

I have to say that your city's scavengery could really teach the guys from MY city a lesson. The places look all so neat and clean, I see no piece of garbage. You can't imagine how some playgrounds look in my quarter, it's horrible! Since we've rented our garden I really avoid to go there. Your pictures really make me want to take a walk through your city and take a deep spring breath - and let my kids play on that still colorful looking clean playground :).

Actually i was very much surprised when a friend from London who came here said Chisinau is cleaner than his home town o_O B Of course we do have all the usual "pleasures" of city life, including overflowing bins and stuff, not too many, but still. I was not just going to take pictures of those, y'know? XD
Another thing is that Chisinau does have a number of historical buildings, but most of the city was built after WWII and there are lots of apartment houses we call "khrushchevki" (built during Khrushchev's time) whose purpose was to provide people with enough living space ASAP which they did at the time, but they all look very grey and out-of-date, and it will take a lot of time to refurbish them...
