Vocal range and bragging techniques XD

Jul 11, 2011 01:55

Well, once again here I am, posting something I'd meant to post a LONG time ago. Seeing as this week is gonna be pretty hectic with us getting ready to leave for Illichivsk and me consciously deciding to subject myself to "electronic detoxication" during our vacation *eyeroll*, I decided to finally sit down and post what I'd already discovered ( Read more... )

vocal range, music, freddy mercury, review, gackt

Thank you for doing the research into this. I'm glad you mentioned Freddy as I mentally compare Gackt to him (mostly favourably too)

This really is an interesting read

You're welcome! ^^ I am very much interested in vocal theory. I will try to post the info on voice processing ASAP since it's also very fascinating and imho it's useful to know these technical and theoretical details in order to be able to properly evaluate a song.

Yay, an excuse for a Freddie icon!! XD

This was interesting, thank you for posting! I know nothing about singing or vocal ranges or anything, so I certainly learned some new things! :D

Ahhhh, dear Freddie. *swoon* To me, he has the greatest voice of any rock singer. Not only just in range, but in everything he puts into his singing. I'm not sure how to word it. I think Gackt is one of the few people I wouldn't growl at if they dared cover a Queen song. I'm very overprotective of them! XDD But I think he could do those songs justice, because he also has such an awesome voice. He's also a great entertainer, so there's that too.. Unless he decided to cover "Sheer Heart Attack" (ugh), I'd be all over a Gackt Queen cover!

Errr....somehow I turned this into a Gackt/Freddie comparison post. :/

Hey, i have no prob whatsoever with people comparing Gackt to other vocalists even if the comparison is not in G's favour =P Granted, it must be someone really as outstanding as Freddy was.

I'd say Freddy had a wider range than Gackt and was slightly better sung probably. At the same time, i prefer Gackt's voice because it's lower, and i do like low male voices. So i'd say when we try to compare such pro vocalists, in the end it comes down to personal preferences and tastes XD

Completely unrelated but i can't come to terms with Barcelona since i really dislike any mixtures of such polar genres as pop/rock and opera. Freddy kinda opened the Pandora box with that performance and we'd been having U2 and Bruno Pelletier and lots of others doing the same shit trick ever since. I SOOOO dislike such amalgamations, grrrr....

Your icon!! *praises*

Haha! I generally don't like when polar opposites are mixed like that either, but I really like "Barcelona" for some reason. I'm not into opera at all, but I like that song. Maybe just knowing how excited Freddie was to have done it, some of the excitement is catching! But then again, I can be a blind sheep when it comes to Freddie! XD Having said that, the entire album? No thanks. I can only handle so much Freddie + opera!

/Freddie praise. See? I really can talk about him forever! XDD

But yeah, he did kind of curse us all with making other people think they could do the same thing! Didn't U2 do a song with Pavarotti as well? D: *sigh* And then there was that horrible cover of "Barcelona" by one of the Spice Girls and some guy. Why?????

Well, maybe the song itself - Barcelona - is ok with me, right, but the whole album... yeah... no thanks! XD

Praise him as much as you want to! He so deserves it, and i hope he feels all this love wherever he is now...

You're welcome! I hope to post info on vocal processing very soon, too, since i find it even more interesting.

Hey, another great love of my musical life - Leonard Cohen - has a vocal range or probably 1.5 octaves but oh dear God what he can do with that voice, the kind of emotions and raw nerves he can convey....
