I know I'm super late, both in watching and posting this, but thanks to Spring Break I've finally got some free time.
About a week ago, my school (which can be supah cool sometimes)

The obliviating scene was heartbreaking, and sets up what i thought would be the perfect adaptation tremendously well. I'm glad that was added in.
personally, I'm not a fan of LotR but I just think that Fellowship is more a movie than DH; It works more for a film audience than DH did. Books and films are two different mediums and what works for one won't necessarily work for the other. Sometimes, translating a book verbatim will kill a movie. like i said, it was not a bad movie at all, it's just not my fave adaptation of the bunch.
I'm hoping part 2 will redeem this, that's where all the juicy parts are! :)
(can't remember which trailer i saw. mighta been the combined trailer but i didn't follow the opening this movie much so who knows. I'm not sure it would make a difference tho. I was just saddened by the lackluster tone of the film).

you see, for me, there was. I liked the movie, but i never got suspense really.
