JUBILEE :D

Charles is delighted by Jubilee, for all of the headaches that she gives him. The state of the world is dire enough when he's from, and everything he's heard indicates that things are going to get much worse before they get any better, but Jubilee is still so... normal. In the sense of having a life outside of being at war, of being a brat and a teenager and a girl and her own person through all of terrible things that keep happening.

That being said, she does give him headaches and for all that he was taking steps toward starting his school, he sometimes gets the sinking feeling of having had parenthood thrust upon him suddenly and surprisingly.

tl;dr YOU GIVE HIM HOPE FOR THE FUTURE AND ALSO ULCERS

M'GANNNNN

So M'gann inspires lots of ~FEELINGS~ in Charles. Even if she weren't a non-human-flesh-toned teenaged-looking shapeshifter girl, he'd still have big brotherly feelings toward her, because that what he does. But, well. She does. So there's a whole host of issues that she stirs up inside of him. Charles is smart enough inside of his own head that he's not really transferring any of his feelings regarding Raven onto M'gann, but M'gann definitely makes him think about Raven. And it makes him both sad and happy, because M'gann is so happy (which makes him happy) in ways that Raven was not (which makes him sad ( ... )

The world is big enough for all of us to share. Humans might be an inevitably-ending section on the evolutionary timeline, and they might react badly to seeing that end coming into view -- but they're still (for lack of a better word) people. Neighbors, friends, family, strangers, just the same as mutants are to them.

Which is to say that Charles doesn't hold Jesse's lack of mutation against him in the least, and really rather appreciates the ways that Jesse has adapted to camp and all of the strange things that it throws at you. The fact that Jesse just kinda rolled with the telepath thing was major points in his favor. Charles also has picked up enough about Jesse to get the sense that he's grown as a person. And he could continue to grow! He just needs some encouragement. And Charles does so love giving encouragement.

I see trees of green and red roses too/ I watch them bloom for me and you/ and I think to myself, oh what a wonderful world

...you'd already given me a first impressions and then I'd failed to reverse. OOPS?

First impressions for Rogue?

mind_over_metal August 29 2011, 02:28:40 UTC
In addition to the obvious mutant interest, Charles is struck by Rogue's sense of insecurity. Even though the future clearly isn't all peachy, she does have the school and the knowledge that she's not alone in what she's going through -- there's obviously other factors at work here. And Charles is curious to know what they are! He wants to help! And he is very clearly not put off by grumpiness or guardedness at all.

And those Professor-ly feelings are only increased by the way that Rogue sees him. Charles's sense of responsibility is only increased by all of this -- it's like he's taking care of the future here a lot more literally than one usually expects it to be. While he realizes that he is his own person and not necessarily what Rogue sees him to be, he nevertheless feels a duty to not disappoint. It's both encouraging and intimidating for him to find so many people with so much faith in him. Mainly, it just inspires him even more strongly to be there for her (and the others) in the way that they need him to be.

Professor!

Rogue is very aware of the fact that while you are a Professor X, you are not exactly her Professor. So, because you're the Professor, she kind of automatically trusts you, she's just not sure...exactly how much trust to give you because she's not sure how similar you are to the Professor she knows. Like, she really wants to ask you to help with her powers (which you may or may not see in the back of her head???) because her Professor is the one who was helping her with them, but she's not sure if there is anything you could help her with because not even older you could do much and you are still unfamiliar and stranger-ish and she does not want to ask for help. But she is very glad there is at least some sort of Professor in case she loses control again and the psyches go crazy. Basically she wants to see what you can do and see if you are helping other people and eventually Rogue might bring it up. Eventually being way off into the future. Possibly after she's absorbed a few too many people.

Relationship meme for Vanya!

mind_over_metal August 29 2011, 04:19:53 UTC
Vanya, Vanya, Vanya! There are a number of campers who fire up Charles's teacher/big brother instincts, but Vanya sends them into overdrive. And, obviously, in this case, there's absolutely nothing to do with the whole mutant cause -- it's just pure personal Charles with his compassion and urge to help and also sympathy for a lonely child. He's also no stranger to persisting with people with stubborn/twisted views of themselves (e.g. Erik), and he's very willing to be patient and stick with them and provide the faith that they need, even if it is sometimes, truthfully, frustrating for him.

So Charles will be wanting to keep an eye on Vanya, keep in touch with her. Having someone be consistently there for her -- particularly an adult, from what it seems that her previous experience with adults has been -- seems like something that could do good. And doing good is groovy.

listen to the song here in my heart/ a melody I've started but can't complete/ listen to the sound from deep within/ it's only beginning to find release

Sorry this is late, I was waiting for Vanya and Charles' powers thread to reach a good point to comment back and then I forgot I never reversed! This is probably going to be long, so hopefully that will make up for its extreme lateness!

Vanya really likes Charles and is just so happy that he seems to not hate her. Vanya has a lot of Camp family, and she definitely is starting to consider Charles as part of it and one day she'll ask him if he minds that.

Even though she's never heard about Professor Xavier or the X-Men before being in Camp, she understand that they're very important superheroes and Vanya is kind of surprised but also excited that he's willing to help her. She trusts him, which is saying a lot because Vanya doesn't like trusting adults. She was glad that when they first met he didn't seem to care that she didn't have powers, so she knew he was nothing like Hargreeves. She's even happier now that she has what she thinks is a real reason to talk to him, and will probably use her powers as an excuse to bother him more. ( ... )

You're saying something about "lateness" to the person who took over a month to finish getting through this meme...

NO APOLOGIES ACCEPTED. ONLY LOVE GIVEN ♥♥

.....by any chance, would you have a link to Vanya talking to Babs about Charles and Erik?
