My sense for Charles is that experiencing a sudden telepathy block would basically be like the worst derealization episode ever, only just people-centric rather than for the entire external environment.

Probably kind of weird! But not as weird as things could be. I imagine that there's a huge difference between someone being shielded and his own abilities themselves being hampered somehow.
