A letter.

Dear Erik,
I am so deeply honoured to have such a place in your life and to be a part, however tangentially, of such sacred memories. Would that it were not through such tragedy, but for the given circumstances, I could not wish for more for myself. Whether or not you believe in it, you have my forgiveness, and have had it.
Which isn’t to say that I’m never angry about it or that I’m without regrets. But that’s just me dealing with my own struggles, not something of your responsibility. And while all that I can offer you today is something that you already had, you’ve given something so very great to me.
I don’t know that this response is even appropriate, but I couldn’t not reply in kind.
It’s hardly insufficient to me, so long as it suffices for you. You can be so very distracting, my friend. It is easier to stay on topic, so to speak, this way.
